Possible problems from Mis-Shift?

Tonight I was close to redline (6800 - 7000) in 3rd and I accidently dropped it into 2nd, I was still letting the clutch out when I realized what I had done. My revs jumped to around 8000 for an instant before I got the clutch back in.
everything sounds fine and idle is still smooth, what should I watch for if there were to be any problems?
Thanks in advance.

Whoooa 8000? I'm sure you're fine. Your engine didn't blow up and it was only for a second. 3rd to 2nd? That's a odd misshift

That's not an odd misshift because he was going to go into 4th but instead pulled the sifter a little to the left...

Could be valve float, causing valves to hit pistons, or just the bottom end plain and simply breaking apart, which is a definite risk on the TSX because of the long stroke and the relatively bad R/S ratio.

So what happens when they dyno cars? Looking at clips, sure as hell looks like the car is being redlined?

redline is not a problem, but 8000 or 8500 is well past redline.

My friends and I had been doing some really spirited driving up a mountain with probably 20 turns in 2 miles which includes 2 switchbacks that are nearly 180 degrees, so during this part of the road I was doing quite a few downshifts from 3rd to 2nd as I was braking. After you come out of the curves there is a long straightaway uphill and this is where I misshifted. I know that it was just a short amount of time from when I started to let the clutch out and realized what I had done but in that instant you get the worst feeling in your stomache.

Sauce's lived through it, I'm sure yours will too.

iamhomin, who has heard bs stories about a person's transmission falling out by mis-shifting from 5th to reverse.

it'll be on the car's engine codes and when u take it in for service for any kinda warranty repair they will tell you to go fuck urself because you 'over-rev'ed the engine...

at least thats what they did to me before i went to another dealer who checked the car free of charge and said that everything was good to go

K24s rule, built like a rock... thats what Honda motors are made for; I'm sure yours is fine... just heads up for the bullshit u may have to deal with at the dealer.

worst that can happen is you lock up youre wheels and spin out of control and your tsx explodes into a ball of flames killing you in a horrble firey death.

Really... 8500.. even 9000RPM for a very brief period of time won't hurt much. The 'classic' mis-shift at its worst hits about 11,000RPM (thats redline 3rd into 2nd). At about 9500RPM, even for a breif instant, the valve spring retainers shear and the valve drops into the combustion chamber.

If it goes... it goes big... there isn't really much in between.

Unofficially, a F20C is good for over 10,000 -11,000 RPM for a brief moment before really bad things happen. Having said that, I wouldn't go hunting for situations to exceed the redline by 1000 rpm. The K24 has a longer stroke and heavier flywheel (feels this way anyway) and I suspect that this helps in situations like yours. Frankly, it doesn't spin up as quickly as a K20A or F20C and this probably saved you from serious damage.

Absolutely.

This is why there's a dwindling market for MTs. All those misshifting drivers end up in fireballs.
