Pollen Filter install question
Pollen Filter install question
I bought a replacement pollen filter from ebay for $10 and just replaced my OEM filter that had been in there for 50,000 miles. It was absolutely
On the OEM filter there was a directional arrow on the front saying "air flow this way" but my replacement filter had no such marking. I examined the thing for 10 minutes and couldn't tell one bit of difference between the two sides so I just put it in randomly.
It shouldn't matter should it? Is the replacement filer different enough from OEM that direction doesn't matter?

If you don't already know, the airflow (arrow if you had one) would be pointing down to the floor board. The filter ends that are "loose should be pointing up so as to billow open as opposed to closing and letting unfiltered air to bypass. Also if you can tell a difference between the two sides of the filter material, the roughest side is up and the smoothest side is down.
Hope this helps.
P.S. - On the bright side you've got a 50/50 chance of making the right choice. The world won't end either way.

Next time you might want to check out FleetFilters on the net. They have the Wix/Napa OEM replacement. You can get it for less than Napa retail delivered to your door. I'm planning on doing a replacement every 12 months. I can get 4 Wix's for the price of 1 dealer OEM. Not a bad deal. Also you'll really notice the difference in your AC/Vent output after you replace your old, blackened filter.

if you put the filter in backwards, it will actually prevent airflow.

I'd take the $10 lost and get the right one from dealer

agree... the one from Wix is very flimy and it doesn't fit.
But... you do save some cash thought.

Very flimsy compared to what ?
Did you compare WIX filter to NEW one from Acura or Honda dealer or whatever to make that comment ?
Mine fit just fine. As with all fabric type filters, there comes a point when they need to be replaced. At $10.00+/- each and about 10 minutes labor vs. $35.00+ for the Acura filter, well... you do the math.
There are better subjects to have a debate about.

Are you sure you got the correct part number? My Wix fit perfectly.
