Please help me pick out my exterior color

Carbon Grey vs. Nighthawk Black

I can't decide. Please break down the pros and cons of each. I don't want to make a decision I am gonna regret.

CG: Looks great. Pain to keep clean.
NB: Looks great too. Even greater pain to keep clean.

If/when I get my tsx i'll be making the same decision.

If the Nighthawk Black came with Parchment interior and metal trim instead of wood, i'd be all over that.

I have a black car now and it's a chore to keep clean, but it does look the hottest once it's detailed.

I have carbon grey, it's a pain to detail. A real pain. Every little nick and scratch in the paint is visible, and even a little dust shows up like crazy. This doesn't bother me too much because I keep my car very clean anyway. Black is going to be just as bad and possibly a bit worse, but not by much. Black is a classic color that will give you a mirror clear finish when perfectly detailed. Carbon grey is probably not quite as popular, but it's still a popular color. IMO, these are the two best colors for the TSX, however, if you're not willing to get out the Porter Cable once or twice a year and take car of swirl marks, get a lighter color, because your car will look f'ed up after a couple of years. Silver and white cars don't need to be polished as often because you can't really see the swirl marks that well anyway (though it certainly doesn't hurt).

I think that NHB has that deep, wet look that is absolutely amazing when clean. It also is more sporty looking too.

Carbon grey, on the other hand, is more modern and "in". However, it seems to have less of a "sheen" than the NHB.

I love them both, and in the end, my choice was made for me by the availability of the color combos that I wanted. You may also bear in mind that black is a classic. Dark grey is very trendy right now - hopefully it will still be trendy in a few years' time. And if you wanted the parchment interior, then you have to get NHB.

you'll get a lot more compliments on cg... i know i have. people love the color because it's somewhat rare. there are more carbon grey/titanium/gunmetal cars out there now, but there are about 1000x more black ones.

both are going to be hard to keep clean, but, having had two other black cars, i'd say that the cg can go a bit longer between washes.

Ive had white for a long time and have CG now. It's pollen season and everyones car gets dirty fast. The CG really isnt that bad. Doesn't look as bad as the dirty blacks.

I say CG also, since its stands out from the crowd, but so does Arctic Blue. I have an Arctic Blue TSX, which is a good color too, and more unique compared to CGs.

CG, no question (of course, I'm biased).

I had the exact same question when I was looking. My two favs were NHblack/ebony and CG/quartz. When I went to the dealer I figured I'd let their inventory decide it for me (which ever was coming in first, I'd get)... and damn my luck, both were coming in on the same day.

In the end I took CG/quartz because I wanted something a bit different. There's no question in my mind that the black is incredible looking and screams sporty... I probably would have taken it too had I not just come off of a black/black car. I also loved the blue, but didn't want to wait until June to get it (the waiting list on blue w/6MT and navi was 3-4 months).

In the end it's whatever look you're going for... the gray has a classy beauty that brings out the lines of the car... the black has a bad-ass sporty look that adds to the TSX's aggressiveness.

NB/CB reply

Both colors are high maintenance vehicles. I chose the NB because black is classic and I wasn't sure how the CB would be in a couple of years. Contrary to one of the previous responses CB is the most common color in the Chicagoland are anyway. I went to four dealers to price out my TSX and they all agreed that CB was the most sold here by a landslide.

I have a spoiler and all the windows tinted (35%) and it looks incredible clean. If you wax and polish often, nothing ever looks better than plain old black.

Black! Basic, classic black. The TSX will forever look beautiful in black. Georgeous, even. Mine does. And once you have a good protective coat on her, she'll clean up easy and fine.

Oh, and don't forget the blue pimp light. It looks fantastic with the black interior. And if you're feeling semi crazy like a lot of us, you can replace all the interior lights with blue LEDs. Fabulous look.

The nighthawk black is a pearl/metallic black, right? One big advantage with flat blacks is that they're much easier to touch up pits inthe paint and have them be basically invisible.

Blue LED lights

Did you pick up those blue lights at Car Boutique or through a catalog. I'm just afraid if a put them in that I'll look like a teenager with my pants down to my butt and a hat on my head sideways. Is the light subtle or is it very noticeable?

Bingo!

No offense to the younger owners.

Artic Blue, its the most beautiful color , Its also changes shades depending on sunlight.

CG and NHB looks fantastic when its clean and in the daylight. At night you can't really see these colors, hence the lines and curves of these sexy cars are not accentuated in the CG and NHB during the night.

Well this is just my opinion

Cheers

Thanks for the info on the blue LED lights. Seriously, no offense to the younger owners whatsoever. I just think there is a distinct difference between driving an Acura and driving one of the "Fast and Furious" cars.

I think nice wheels and a tasteful body kit can enhance the look of just about any car. The TSX is no exception. That said, I don't think blue leds would really fit my image too well. Maybe if I was a couple of years younger...

Well, all I can tell you is I'm 56, my wife's a year younger, my kids are all in their 20's and the blue lights have been a hit all around in our black on black TSX. Of course, you may indeed be too old for such a cheap (in both senses of the word) mod. But I makes me smile.

You have any pics? I'd kind of like to see it. My other concern is that over head blue LED's might make it hard to use the reading lights for their intended purpose.

I learned about them from this thread:
http://www.acura-tsx.com/forums/show...&threadid=6675

Got mine from superbrightleds.com. Cost me $18 delivered and 10 minutes to install. If it turns out you hate the effect, you haven't lost much.

Well, as for blue LEDs and reading maps, I find I can sort of read with a blue maplight. Wouldn't want to read the newspaper, but a map I'm already familiar with is not a problem for me. I did put a flashlight in my console, but I haven't had to use it to do a short read.

I like the look of the blue leds, most of the time when I've seen them they look chintzy. I think I'm going to order a set and the leds for the taillights and blinkers. Can take them out if I don't like.

Easy to install, I assume?

10 minute job. Just be careful when you pry the covers off so as not to break any of the prongs. Also, the festoons are direction sensitive, so if they don't light, turn them 180 degrees.
