Wink Played with Ferrari

Was coming home from the Y after a grueling workout (cruising about 60mph) looked in rear view mirror and saw this sexy black coupe come roaring out of no-where.

He had to be doing 90+....passed me by and got caught in a pack.
Stomped on it and tailed him for a minute, noticed it was a new Ferrari, he waved and took off like a UFO...talk about raw power........


Made me wish I was young and had my 70 'Cuda TA.....sigh.....

F430?

You wouldn't have stood a chance in the Cuda either.

Not a whole lot of cars on the market would have stood a chance agains the F430. Hell the F360 that I have driven before is just lightning quick so I only imagine with the F430 is capable of.

Talking Which was it?

I am not sure which model it was, I do not see them very frequently...it had 4 square tail lites, and a long tear drop shaped rear glass piece.

Did not see clearly see the front, for obvious horsepower reasons...



Why tail him??? Just for the *uck of it........actually I was hoping for a Highway Patrolman to chase him!!!!!!!!

I probably would have gotten the ticket, as it would have been an easier "Kill"

4 sqaure tail light? Hmmm...I thought ferrari's had circular lights? Anyways, any Ferrari is nice. If it's new, then most likely F430.

I know what you mean. Whenver I see one on the road (usually 360 modenas), I turn off the radio and roll down my window to listen to the beast.

Even at idle, it's one of the best sounds in the world to me.

Not likely since M5 and M6 only comes in a V10 while the Ferrari comes in a V12 also the ferrari boast 50 to 100 more horses than the M5 500 horses.

you cant just look at how big the engine size is and how many horsepower. you have to look at where the max torque and power is at the rpm band and other issues such as gearing ratio.

My point is you can't beat a pure sports car with M5 sedan or M6 on the freeway or the track. here M5/M6 V10 500hp/7750 rpm/383lbs torq new Ferrari 612 Scaglietti 540bhp/7250 rpm/ 439lbs torq. If you have driven a Ferrari you'll know it can't be beat by M5. If you looked at the Ferrari V12's their torq are over 400lbs at 5k rpm. I have test drove the M5 and it just doesn't feel as fast as the Ferrari of course some people might feel differently but that's just my opinion.

the f430 will walk it. top gear did a short test on it comparing a m5 to a supercar ferrari. i left it in the dust..literally, it wasnt even close. so on the highway, the f430 may not RAPE it but rather just walk the m5, nonethelesss, the f430 will beat the m5 in any race type situation.


...think the m5 is a 4 door saloon, it may have a 500 hp engine but at the end of the day it still weighs some 4000(?) pounds

One of the few.

A friend of mine went to a party with an alumnus from my college. The alum got totally hammered and couldn't drive home so my friend got to drive his 550+ hp Ruf tuned 996 turbo to take the alum home. Apparently, he had a good time.

Do yourself a favor and go drive an M5 and a Ferrari back to back and see the difference for yourself.

I'm not even going to point out how this should be in car talk.

I will say, as far as nice cars go, I've seen a bonanza in the last few weeks here in Tulsa:

Ferrari F430, Ferrari F360, Corvette C6 Lingenfelter, Bentley Continental GT, Bentley Continental Silver Spur, Lamborghini Gallardo, and more Maseratis than I can shake a stick at.

also factor the relative weight difference into the equation.

maseratis arent even fun to look at anymore. i feel as though they're becoming a dime a dozen now (at least in jersey)

I agree!!! I live about 3 minuets from a very hi end garage "Legendary Motor Cars" and once or twice a month in the summer I get to hear an exotic come flying by me on the 401 east bound.... last week I was just merging on the highway and all I heard was "thunder" and then I saw a brand new yellow Lamborghini Murcielago engage the warp drive and disappear into the distance. and then I went home and changed my underwear...

It is an amazing car out of the box, but I'm sure Ruf made it better. I've always wondered what Brumos could do to a 997 Turbo.

My buddy with the 05 Turbo headed up to look at the new 07 Turbo. Haven't talked to him yet.
