AT Peel out?

Can you AT transmission peeps get your stock TSX to peel out from stop to WOT? Can't get it to peel out in any gear. Feels slow to rev up.

Do a brake stand...

-Turn off VSA
-Left foot depressed firmly on the brake pedal
-Rev the car with your right foot to about 3000RPM or so
-Then release the brake pedal and fully depress the gas pedal

You'll be burning up rubber in no time!

I only ask because I saw a video of a TSX with just the icebox and his chirps (tires) a little bit; he left a comment saying "notice how the tires peel/chirp when the engine hits vtec." I have an icebox by the way and the car in no way chirps/peels.

I didn't try it in my car, but when I was given a TSX 5AT with under 1K miles for my loaner last time my car was in the dealer I thought I would give it a try.

With TSA on, with it off, from a power brake, with a neutral drop. It is VERY HARD to get the tires to chirp at all.

As mentioned, on my car I haven't done any of that, but I put that rental car through it's paces and it is very hard to get it to chirp tire. I wasn't able to get the car to spin out either.

(FYI-I tried this on dry and wet surfaces to no avail).

I just think it can't be done...but then again, we drive front wheel vehicles that are made not to spin or break from the road.

So I guess the loaner TSX worked well, it just wasn't all that fun!!

but here is what you can do.

1. Buy Injen Intake ......... $200
2. Buy DC Sport Header ... $300
3. Buy RT CAT ............... $330
4. Buy Hondata .............. $600
5. Buy new exhuast ........ $800
6. Turn off VSA
7. Go into SS mode
8. Stop on gas in first gear

After following those 8 steps you will have your best change to do a peelout

I tried that too, rev to ~2k rpm or whenever the torque converter gives up, floored it, no chripping. However, there was this on time where my tires chriped when I put on like 70% throttle at a stop light on dry roads.... but I later realize the tire pressure was about 4-5psi too low

There is another situation where it would easily chrip, is when u're in SS mode, and when the car is in motion in first gear (3k rpm or so) ease on the throttle and suddenly floor it.... that is the only time the AT has enough torque to spin the wheels a bit.

I've been able to peel out with my AT. It was when I had the OEM tires though. I have everything listed about except #5. Just like CCColts said, just come to a complete stop and floor it!

Goodyear Integrity tires don't come in TSX sizes, so that rules that out - thank God! Lighter weight rims and tires would help, everywhere. Careful, and don't go too far outside of what is meant to be, but, tires are springs, and if you reduce the rear tire pressure it will allow more weight transfer to the rear, when starting or accelerating, making it easier to spin the front tires; check to see if the rears are over-inflated. Worn shocks can have the same weight transfer effects, but you really don't want that.

Personnaly, I like the idea of the drive wheels just hooking up and the car going, and using that phenominally long rpm range - the TSX gives you about a thousand more useful revs than most other automatics, and the force (torque) at the road for acceleration in 1st is greater than what you'll find in 2nd.

1. get some power adders like CCC said
2. turn VSA off
3. get on the smooth pavement (its gonna be darker in color)
4. brake rev n floor it...thing will spin freely for a couple seconds...i went out n had a lil fun that way the other day when the temp hit the mid 50's the other day
5. shift before you bounce of the rev limiter

Just be glad you got the AT. With the MT you don't really get to peel out, you'll just get some nasty wheelhop (and say goodbye to your engine mounts)

And here one thing I love about the AT TSX is how hard it is to get to "peel out" - I feel much safer in it. To each their own.

I have to say, after the ice and snow we have had here in OH for the past couple of days, it is nice to have a car that won't spin tire at every acceleration from a stop.

Not being able to peel out isn't fun if you want to screw around on dry weather but it is nice when you need to drive carefully and safely. Also the traction system works pretty well.

WHY would you WANT to? Who's that going to impress? Let's see, you ruin your tires, kill your rate of acceleration, and make people look at you and think "what a jackass."

Tested it on the freeway on-ramp yesterday evening. Peeled out without a problem. About a 1/2sec chirp from a standing stop. VSA was on, and in SS, 1 gear. The car was on about a 2-3 degree incline, facing uphill. Have hondata and Icebox.

All of those people driving cars with less than 200 HP! Buahaha! ..... Uh.... No. It screams "teenager driver" way too loudly. It might scare people, they might laugh at you, but noone's thinking, "Boy, no other FWD with bad tires can do that! Wow!"

Worse yet, you might spin it when you don't mean to -- how embarrassing!

Right, I'd rather go forward faster and without attracting any unwanted attention.

Heck, I plan to upgrade the tires at some point and I'll have more difficulty in spinning the tires! Not that is difficult with the MT, but seriously, I don't go out of my way to do it. I think a ton of cars can do that.

^^ LOL

If the question is, "can you peel out?" then the answer is yes. If its, "do you peel out?" then the answer is no.

I had an 06 TL loaner car this week and tried to get the car to peel out.

With VSA off and with a power brake it did a little better than the TSX. There was a bit of wheel spin.

But I beat a Pontiac Grand Prix GTP in a race in the TL!!!

I can get the tires to chirp on my 5AT with VSA on or off.. All I had was the hondata reflash... no intake or exhaust.

I got the tires to chirp loud today which prompted an 04-05 Accord Coupe V6 to accelerate hard to race me. Amazingly, he was not able to pass me before we ran out of real estate. But he was honking his horn and pacing me the rest of the way trying to bait me into racing him again, and I didn't even want to try to embarass myself. I got lucky. I had the comptech header and random tech cat installed on my car earlier today. I can definitely feel the increased power.

I chirp mine easily with the Michelin PA2 snow tires (dry pavement) with stock setup.
