I say for scratches a pen would work better. But for chips a few coats from the bottle/brush works well. But the ultimate best is actual SSM paint and an airbrush<-----that tits yo!

I got the dealer to throw in the tough up paint as part of the deal. I asked for the pen but they say they didn't have the it (yea right). So, I am stuck with the bottle/brush. My car is pwp. The bottle of paint requires a lot of shaking to get the paint well mixed.

You must get the pen - it is much less transparent, and thus will cover the chip with less paint. eBay sellers have them, or as someone mentioned, contact a canadian member for one (I don't mind ordering it and shipping it for basically the exact price).

Jlukja, I read somewhere that the pen are only available in Canada too, and then confirmed that when I went to Acura of Tustin. There used to be a member up here that sells the pens, his name is Serf something I don't remember. I tried ebay'ing the pen but nothing showed up, I guess H and A is the only place to get them now.
Moda_way, doesn't the touch up pen come with clear coat on the opposite side?

It does not have a clearcoat on the opposite side. As H and A states, it is made by Chip Mender, so it isn't an Acura product, but I can tell you, it is the closest color match I've seen.

Not that anyone cares but for curiousity sake I went and got the touch-up pen I bought when I purchased my MDX and it is in fact made in Canada and is a Honda, not Acura part. Of course being a Honda part the color has a different name, rather than "Sage Brush Pearl" which is what my MDX is it's "Dark Eucalyptus".
One end is clearcoat and the pens work great. About 6" long.

Seriously, if anyone REALLY wants one I could send them one. I would have to look into TSX colour availability and US customs would have to cooperate, it could be a new technology (paint) weapon.
When I bought the one for my MDX I had to order it from a Honda dealer, can't remember why now though.

Yeah, I remember that ebay posting as well now. However, if I'm correct, the guy didn't have any CG which made me somewhat suspicious.

FYI: If your paint is pearl, the pen will have a base color on one side, and a pearl clear on the other.
ie: My PWP pen uses a base coat with no sparkle, basically no gloss. The other end has a pearl clearcoat (the metallic flakes (pearl) are in the clear). Works AWESOME. Just be sure to leave enough room to add 1 coat, or swipe if you will, of pearl coat over the base.
With a bit of practice, and a homemade sanding block using a 1" wooden cube from a craft store, the results are fantastic.
btw, for the sanding block:
1 1" wooden cube
1 sheet of thing (1/16"?) craft foam
1 dab of crazy glue (gel is great)
1 sheet of 2000 grit automotive wet/dry sandpaper.
Cut the foam to fit one or two sides of the block (not adjoining sides). Glue. Cut sandpaper to fit the foam. Glue. Let dry 24+ hours, then soak in water for at least 12 hours.
Use this to sand the touchup paint once it's dried (2 hours)... pulling towards you ONLY. Buff with polishing compound and you're good to go.

Paint-Pen
Hey There,
Question???
Any feedback on that Canadian tire liquid rust remover. I have a very small nik between the fender and hood on driverside edge. I was hoping to clean it up with a wee dab then cover with the paint pen.
Have any of you out there used a similiar product with success ?
I will be picking up a paint-pen Monday and I will let you all know how it works ....

I was going to just get the one on handaaccessories.com but when i clicked "add to cart" they didn't have a CG color.
Looks like i'll have to get the one on ebay. That's the one with the perfect match eh?

Did anyone else notice the little quip after the shipping rate on the ebay listing?
"Buyers to pay flat $6.99 S&H. (Does it really cost this to ship? Not really, but an Ebay competitor is selling the pens for a lower starting price and overinflating shipping prices - unfortunately with success so I am just "battling back")."
That's unusually honest and humorous IMO.

When yuo're buying it off ebay, just consider the item price + shipping. Then compare prices that way. It's really no big deal. Plus this way the seller saves a little money because the final value fee that he pays is based off of the actual selling price. The lower offered price also helps attract more attention.
Not making an excuse for the seller. But just an explanation.

I agree. On ebay, always consider the price + shipping. I've seen items where one seller will charge $3 for shipping and another, $8. Some will pad the shipping price to make a little extra profit on the transaction.
