paint chipping off grill '05 tsx?

has anyone else had this happen. i just noticed today that my 2.5 year old 05 tsx the "chrome" is chipping off the grill piece.

i have no idea how that is happening since its coming off in little flakes.

is this a warrantyable issue?

Mine's doing it too. Has been since last summer (I bought it last Feb, also an '05). You do a lot of highway driving? Seems any small nick will chip it, and from there it will peel off. Kinda sucks.

this will probably depend on your dealer. since it seems a little excessive, they might warranty it.

Screw that, it's a perfect excuse to paint it to match the body. It looks freakin sweet. Makes the lines of the nose and hood really jump out more. It's a shame they're so obfuscated by default because this car has a beautifully sculpted schnoz on it.

I agree and have thought about the same thing. I think it looks great though and after seeing crazyazn's writeup, it's very tempting to do myself. The only thing I'd be worried about is spending money/time doing the paint job only to have the paint start chipping too. I guess I would put extra clearcoat on it to help protect the paint, but I know I would be pissed to spend the effort/money only to have the same type of problem again.

I drive on the freeway a lot though. If I mostly only drove in the city, I think it would be worth it.

yeah i'd say i spend about 65% of my driving on the highway.

What bothers me is that the actual body panels on front seem to be handling it great, but the grill isn't doing so well. Maybe they did a worse job painting it. I've never had this happen on any other car I've owned.
