official chick car?

Sorry guys, but in the philadelphia area, for every 3 female drivers I see 1 male driver. What does this say about our car? That it's a chick car or that girls can appreciate it too?

It says that the women end up taking the nice car in the household

I know that the TSX was originally going to be mine, and my wife was going to take my car. But somehow- and I'm not really sure how this happened - it has become hers.

So there is one of the female-driven TSXs you are seeing in the Philly area.

I live in the GTA (Toronto)...and I've only seen 2 other ladies driving a TSX.

I must admit...I love the attention

All the TSX's I see in Toronto are driven by females and older 40-50 year old females at that.

I seriously doubt the distribution is much different from 50-50. Sample size n=2, of the 2 TSX owners I know, one is male (me) and one female.

Could it possibly be that you notice chicks driving cars 3x more often than middle-aged guys driving cars?

Actually, I'd bet that more females will be in the TSX than the G35 or some other competitors. If you look at the gender balance of most cars on the road, women seem to flock to the smaller more tossable vehicles rather than the big powerful ones (and, no, I'm not being sexist, I'm just making an observation based on what is on the road right now). I'm not saying we are all driving the equivalent of a White VW Cabriolet or a Lexus ES300, but I think we'll see a fairly even gender balance in this vehicle.

Don't worry, your not being sexist. I purchased the TSX for those exact reasons. The TL is appealing, but it's too much car for me...as I have said on previous threads.

The TSX will be my family car...Perhaps that's why more females are driving it.

I think that alot of females are attracted to the car because they are less concerned with straighline raw power (which many guys feel the tsx lacks) and are more concerned with a nice looking interior.

(Most of the TSX's I've seen have been driven by women).

Personally, I couldn't give a rat if a lot of women drive the TSX. I LOVE my car and I can understand why lots of women who have good taste in vehicles opt for it.

I haven't see a lot of TSX's out here in LA. I see about one a week. Every single one I've seen so far has had a male driver. I haven't asked any of them about their sexual orientation though.

Some people say the RSX and integra are chick cars too ...but I see plenty of guys driving them.

I don't think the TSX is a "chick car", I think its just not a "guy car" ...if that makes sense. Most honda/acuras are neutral in this way.

So are all these TSX driving chicks at least good looking?

The only female I've seen driving a TSX wax older. It was pulling out of a parking lot... I noticed another CG TSX and was like "wow, another TSX" (at that time I'd only seen like 2 others on the road), as I pulled up next to it, I looked to see who was driving, and then noticed the big dent in the passanger side door/front fender, and then noticed the flat tire she was pulling out of the parking lot on Seeing the TSX like that made me want to cry! :'(

Sorry DJ, but I don't think the TSX qualifies as a chick car. From what I've seen, it's about 50-50 distribution, and the women tend to be middle aged. When I see a Jetta, I expect to see a decent looking girl driving :-* I doubt that could ever be true about the TSX.

Saw my first new TL yesterday. White, with a middle aged guy driving.

So I'm not the only one.... I'm always surprised to see a guy driving a Jetta.

Chick cars are: Miata, VW Bug/Beetle, BMW 3-Series Convertible, Toyota MR2, any Saturn, any wagon, Mitsu Eclipse Convertible, Lexus RX300/330, Volvo's, Mercedes SLK & CLK convertibles, Pontiac Sunfire, etc...

I have never seen a woman driving any of the 6 TSX's I have seen, but oddly enough, 2 of those drivers were over 65 years old. That surprised me more than the man/woman thing. I don't see the TSX's interior appealing to senior citizens?

good list of people to offend B-D

bob- we've got to stop quoting sample sizes now!!

DJ- I have noticed the same thing. Maybe it is a Philly area thing.

I'd feel better if the title of this thread was 'unofficial chick car' though. If Acura is sanctioning it and I missed that, I'm gonna feel pretty dumb

WHAT!!! Miata? VW? SUNFLOWER??? :shakehd: Thanks but no thanks...Although this is my first car, I've always stayed true to Honda.

I'm more of a SUV type of girl, so getting the TSX surprised myself even...What impressed me about the TSX were the looks initially, but I appreciate every aspect...I'd like more power though, not impressed there, but like I said, this is my family car.

And about the looks/age..never ASSume...J/K

I can hold my own...:-* As Mya would say..."I'm single sexy and sweet" ...at the ripe ole age of 27...

As I've said before, if you want to determine the gender of your car, just look underneath. If the car is male, then it is probably not a "chick car."

This poses the question... If you are so sexy and sweet, why are you still single at age 27? I think we need a pic of you and your TSX for verification!

All in favor, say "I"

Well, someone has to drive all those 5AT TSXes

All joking aside, I've seen some women driving the TSX around LA. I have to say they have good tastes I think what attracted them to the car because of it's compactness (not a bulky big car which is more "masculine" to some)

My sister likes my car very much too. She currently drives an 98 Integra, and originally she liked the car because it's "small and cute." She said her next car would be something close to the TSX, like the IS300

First of all, you've been around long enough to know my stance on the women-driving-automatic vs. manual transmissions (in which I stated in a post where I recommend to another board member that he get his g/f to drive a manual tranny for reasons that were beneficial to him).

Second, I'd tell your sis to hold on to that Teg. They are more than just small and cute. Hell, I know a lot of people that would just buy her engine and drop it into a CRX.

btw, did i tell you i wasted a riced-out Mitsubishi Eclipse? complete with "Bad Boy" window decals and everything. fun times.

It drives even better than it looks. The few I've driven were among the smoothest cars I've ever driven. Has a lot of power too, and feels like it.

I personally don't think of it as a chick's car, but I know some guys who do. Buff Daddy for one thinks of the TSX as 'maybe my girlfriend's next car'.
If you value good design, the TSX is a candidate to be your next car, no matter what sex you are. I think it's the best front-wheel-drive sedan on the road today.

Shoot, B-D, you used to say this all the time when you explain to people why you, a BMW owner, is hanging around a TSX forum.

I said I had a sister and a friend who's leases were up in Feb. & April so I was keeping an eye on what was happening with the TSX. I am keeping it at the top of the list because I think it is a good car. I just happened to get a great closeout deal on the exact 03 BMW I was looking for and so I jumped on it. If that exact deal wouldn't have worked out, I very well could have ended up in a TSX. Heck, if the sales guy I was dealing with wasn't treating the TSX like it was a rare exotic like the Ferrari Enzo, I might have ended up with one.
I don't lash out at the TSX, I only lash out at TSX owners when they make foolish or questionable statements.

B-D, I never said you lashed out at the TSX. I apologize for mis-remembering the exact relationship you have to the woman who might be interested in a TSX.
