OEM body kit and mudguards

My 04 had mudguards installed when I bought it. I am looking to put on the OEM body kit but from what I can see, I will need to take off the mudguards.

Is this correct or can I leave them on?

Thanks!

I am not expert on body kits, but from what I have read on other threads is that you will have to remove them. Others have bemoaned the fact that when they have removed their mudguards is that some of the paint has been damaged underneath them.

Oh man, I hope the paint is not damaged! That would suck bigtime. I wouldn't care so much if the damaged paint was under the part where the kit covered. I'll have to pull them off before I buy the kit and if there is major damage, I'll hold off on the kit for a while.

Here's a link to a thread discussing it. It won't make you feel any better but have a good Christmas anyways!

The OEM side skirt would not cover the mud guard part so you might see some damage on the mud guard area. I have the same problem but it wasn't that big deal. Its very small scratches so I think you can buff it out.

Wow, those posts were enlightening, and frightening! I have 40,000 on my car already... I bet when I take them off, it's going to be a mess... and my car is black so it will show. I guess I can't get excited until I actually see what's behind them. Maybe I'll be able to buff it out.
