Howard911s,
Keep on telling yourself it's only 5HP. But I do agree with the "life is too short to buy the same car twice" part!

Although I haven't voted, I'm leaning toward trading-in being the better option. If you're satisfied with your 05/04, stay put. If not, you might end up chasing all the enhancements of the 2006 and end up spending more money in the long run with a lower trade-in value.

The same logic could be appied to a friend of mine who owned a 94 Integra LS. He loved the Integra GSR so much, he ended up swapping his motor and buying a bunch of other aftermarket parts when he was better off simply trading in his LS for a GSR. With the stock GSR, he has better reliability, better resale, smog legal, and of course, less money spent overall.
remember all I said was THINK about it. I have a hard time believing this many people wouldn't even consider it. Will I do it? probably not. Will I think about it and run some numbers? yeah sure.

hehe, glad you guys agree, by the way, off topic a bit, my co worker got a 05 mbz C230 kompressor sedan brand new, loaded, leather, power seat, power everything, , sport package, 29000 out of door, NOW!!! with 50000 miles free service, and LIFETIME (mbz come with lifetime) roadside assistance, i would get C230 anyday over an 06 TSX, ... reason for the price is they are going with C280 (3.0 liter 228 HP) and C350. (3.5 liter 268 hp) now and clearing out all the C230 kompressor! 29K for all these above? and i believe the torque on C230 is somewhere around 190 pounds, that 30 over tsx,

so if i were to take a hit of thousands or 10K, ill get another car, especially mbz at same price as tsx? once again , life is too short to buy same car twice!

Nope, the C230 has 181 ft-lbs of torque. The '05 TSX has 166 -- so that only 15 ft-lbs difference. The new '06 would have roughly 169 ft-lbs using the old standard so that's even less of a difference.

Thumbs down I Shall Pass

Most of the changes/upgrades will not affect me much, however, my answer could change depending if the appearance is greatly improved.

Your coworker is either not telling you something, or he really did get one hell of deal. I just checked Edmunds.com and to get an equivalently equipped C230, will cost you about $8k to $10k more. Mercedes has some crazy options, like $680 for "Metallic Paint". For $29k out the door, I would take a loaded C230 Kompressor over a TSX, but I doubt that's the price, and my friend has an MB Navi and he says it sucks.

My parents just purchased a Lexus ES 330. They got a price just a few hundred more than they could have gotten a TL for (low 30s OTD). I think most of these luxury car companies that have so many additions for leather/seat heaters and the like have more room to negotiate a price than a company like Acura where all of these things are standard.

Here's another one, they didn't mention beefing up the brakes at all (but maybe the did). I hear some current owners say that's a weak point on this car -- relative to its competition. Speaking of brakes, why is Acura touting the EBA (electronic brake assist) as new for the 2006? I am almost certain the 2004 brochure I have mentions this feature -- although it doesn't list it under the features summary at the end of the brochure.
Good point on the brakes, I would definitely like shorter stopping distances, as the TSX's are mediocre....

I dont think anyone has commented on this, but I noticed this change:

More voice recognition commands (653)

I wonder if the additional commands allow for voice command of the destination address for the navi. Correct me if I am wrong, but the only acura that can do this now is the RL right?

Changing the brake pads and using more aggresive tires would make a world of difference.

I have a feeling the 06 TSX has the same brakes as the 04/05.

04/05 TSX do not have EBA ( I thought it was called EBD)...
I believe the JDM Accord does have it though.
Not sure how much a difference EBD makes. I would actually prefer a hill holder clutch, like the new 3 series. Seems like a cool feature.

I have no problem upgrading the tires, but from what I understand upgrading the pads to ones that work better also means increased brake dust -- that's not something I'm keen on.

Yea I did some searching after my post and saw the current models have EBD not EBA, but I thought I'd let the post "ride" until it got a response. But what I'd really like to know is how EBA is really any different than EBD. I mean heck the car already has EBD and VSA so is EBA just a new marketing spin on what's really already there?

Having seen the changes, I'd be tempted to swap out my 2004 for a new 2006 model with the MT and Nav.

I myself don't own a TSX yet, but if I already had a '04 or '05 I sure as heck would not worry about trading up to get the 2006 changes. That being said, I really-really-really-really wanted the memory setting for the driver's seat so I'm glad I didn't buy a 2005 last fall!

Haha you dont own a TSX! JK, I like the 05, the new style might look like the mazda 6 or something, I'll keep my 05 TSX, thank you.

Let me warn everyone about the new low profile '06 wipers....

My Ford Five-hundred (it's a free company lease car, stop the flaming--- I now I'd never really buy one, chill out.) has low profile wiper blades.

They are made by Bosch and used on some Audi's also, these mothers suck compared to old faithful honda blades. Each blade is about $39ea and they don't clean worth sh** at speed. And they squeek bad. I will gladly take the old style wipers on my '04 TSX and '00 Accord anyday vs. these new low profile Bosche POS.

There are only a handful of wiper mfg. for the OEM's and this new Bosch blade is used by all the up and coming Eurpean cars it is the new "it" blade.

It will be the low profile on the TSX, b/c it is the only low profile on the market. I'm sure this will be the blade, it's showing up on all the new cars from all the mfg.

i think an 06' steering wheel swap might be cool. Condering since they are changing it, i'm sure it is one with the fat handles or increased padding at 10 and 2 (i sound like a driver's ed instructor, sorry) I think it would make the whole interior look alot more sporty.

When I'm at speed, I rarely need wipers because the rain-x on the windshield is doing the work.

Maybe it's cause it's a ford? I doubt Honda would install something that doesn't work well. Im sure they tested it quite a bit to make sure it works without squeeking.

Ya I'm kinda upset about the steering wheel and the memory seats. If the new steering wheel is thicker than the current one, I hope I can just replace mine with it.

I wouldn't trade my 05 TSX for an 06... but I would trade it for an 07 TSX if it comes with even more power or turbo! =)

Well we can hope.......

The low profile bosch blade sets lower on the windshield but it catches more air at speed, the wiper blade is more solid filled, almost like a winter blade.
