North Eastern Ohio buying advice

I live in North Eastern Ohio and I am going for an automatic, non-navigation TSX. The first dealer I went to was too arrogant. He offered to have $500 off the MSRP but the dealership's attitude was too much so I just left. The other dealer, almost 50 miles away, was much more professional and courteous. He offered to take $1000 off MSRP without any haggling! The trade-in price was acceptable too.

Is this a reasonable deal in my area? Or can I get even more off the MSRP? Or maybe I can get him to throw in some accessories as freebies? I know this is the end of the month/year so I am hoping that he would be more eager to sell me the car... my check book is ready!!!

I got $1200 off and no freebies. That's about all your gonna get IMO. The TSX is HOT and with the recent reviews{CNN/Money Car of the Year} I'd take the $1000 off and run with it.

sprint to that deal! that's the best I've heard in the last couple months.

it was a little more common to get 1K off a few months ago, and earlier.. but I havn't heard anything that good since. Prices have really seemed to stiffen up, with people paying MSRP or only a few hundred off, at best.

If you don't take it, tell me who the dealer is and I"ll drive there myself for that extra $500-700 off (and I'm in Chicago)!

As another Northeast Ohioan - I'm curious as to which dealership(s) you visited on your TSX quest - there aren't many around!

Keep in mind, though, that there will be a rather large, new "Acura of Cleveland" dealership opening in March-April off of I-480 near Hopkins airport.

Hi tgrundke,

Glad to meet another NE Ohioan here!

There are not that many Acura dealers around NE Ohio so you will know which ones I am talking about! LOL

The one in the Cleveland area was arrogant and rude. They also offered me the worst deal initially. Maybe they thought that they were the only dealership in Cleveland, so they could do whatever they wanted? I actually was shocked that there was only one dealership in a city of this size.

Then I went to the one in Akron - their services were friendly, they were the most straight-forward and they also have a good inventory! The one in Boardman did not even respond to my quote request...

Anyway, I was going to go with the one in the Akron area. Then the Cleveland dealer called me, and told me that they would match the Akron deal AND they offer free life-time tire replacements. Now, that sounds rather attractive! However, I still can't get over their attitude... anyway, I have a few days to think about this! What do you think?

I am excited about the new Acura of Cleveland opening near Hopkins! That will probably help to correct that nasty attitude of the salespeople in the existing only dealership in Cleveland... shame that I don't want to wait that long for my new TSX!

Good to hear, ostrich. I've been over to Motorcars Acura and while pleasant, they did by no means bend over backwards to help me. This is the problem with having only one franchise store in Northeast Ohio.

There is also a rather large dealership in Erie, PA (about an hour or so away) and one just over the border in PA - about an hour and change as well. I'm still holding off until next year on my car decision - so, we shall see!

tgrundke, how did you hear about the Acura of Cleveland dealership? Also, what do you know about the one in Erie, PA? Does it have a good reputation?

As to the dealership in Erie, I don't really know much about it except that it is on Peach Street.

As to Acura of Cleveland, there is a gigantic billboard up on I-480 and the facility is currently under construction. I know a few dealers in the area and they informed me that it should be opening March-April 2004.
