Just got my new 2005 TSX yesterday. CGP/5AT. Two questions.

1. I have a Valentine1 radar detector I would like to mount on the front windshied by the rear view mirror. Where can I tap into a hot wire? Is there 12v in the rearview mirror to control the auto dim feature? Will I need to run wire down the side of the windshied? Looking for clean install - no wires hanging anywhere.

2. How long does the stupid grin on my face last???? 24 hours - a couple hundred miles and all I can do is smile.

lol
I've had my TSX for just over a month now. That grin is still on my face.
Sauceman whos a mod here has had his TSX for over 100,000 miles. He says he still has a grin on his face everytime. So the consensus is that the grin will stay for a long while.

As for the wire to tape into, i'm sure you can tap into one of the map lights. However, you may not want to do that because those map lights are not controlled by the turn of the key. Those wires are hot all the time.
You want to find a wire that comes on when the key is in the ACC position.
One that comes to mind is the 12v plug near your "this is not an ashtray".
Or inside the armrest console.

You can run the wire down the side pillar.
Here... let me find the writeup for you.

Found it, that thread has pics and a writeup and everything step by step.
Good luck with the install and enjoy your new ride!

The grin only gets worse when you get into the twisties, I'm afraid.

Especially after a rear swaybar upgrade and larger wheels.

I was pulling through a long-ish highway off-ramp (270 degree right hander) constant at 75km/h (well within the car's limit), my wife was feeling the lateral G pull and was amazed too

Congrats on your new car
