No Vtec for the last 3 weeks

Guys, I'm deprived. Got my 3rd ticket about 3 weeks ago for going 13 over, and 2 lane changes without signaling..i know. Well, since then, I havent hit vtec even once. dont get me wrong, its really improved my gas mileage..but eh, i feel like somethings missing in my daily driving, and i think i know what it is. i just felt like ranting, thanks.

When I was 18, I racked up 3 tickets in 3 months... I have no record and I had to do community service. It wasn't worth it in the end, had to work a whole year to pay off the attorney fees (In HS). All this in a damn Del Sol hahaha.

I don't use vtec since I don't have an opportunity to use it (commute only has city miles, with half of the traffic lights stopping me). It's exciting when I actually go on the freeway and get to use vtec.

I remember years ago when I got a ticket (entrapment...they sent out cars to get in front of you and slow down, causing you to switch lanes to overtake, but then the cops come after you for going 60 mph [5 mph over the limit] to overtake..and they aren't willing to listen to you. Then they burn rubber w/o their lights on so they can get back into position to pull someone else over). I drove at the speed limit for nearly 3 months (I used cruise control to make sure I did). I was the slowest car out there, and it seemed to take forever to get home. I finally got tired of it and went back to driving at the same speed as everyone else.

Don't minors have a lower maximum number of points they can have?

Yay, another inexperienced driver driving like a moron. I hope you lose your license and a little shred of a lesson might soak into that supposedly bulletproof skull you've got there.

Sorry to hear it. I got three speeding tickets in my '59 VW Beetle, then rolled it, all while I was younger than you so I have no need to get on a soapbox. I still drive aggressively at times and could use a swift kick in the ass.

Good luck, be careful, & use your signals.

Hm, yes, I did get 3 tickets, and obviously ive learnt my lesson if im not speeding anymore. Why does everyone feel the need to 'bitch' at anyone who is younger than them and does something stupid, BUT, yet learns their lesson? oh well.

Another lesson to learn: Don't rant online and expect everyone to agree with you.

Obvious? One might wonder what happened after ticket #1 and #2, and why the learning mechanism in your brain didn't kick in until ticket #3. That's more tickets in a matter of months than I've received in my entire career of competition commuting.

I think we give teenagers too much credit. I let my 16 y/o brother who has a permit drive my car in the back country and I thought "he's realy good at video games, how hard could it be to drive a car compared to beating Metroid Prime?" Wow was I wrong. He almost lost control of the car a few times and nearly ran us off the road, and we were on a wide open road a clear blue day. And it got me to thinking, teenagers actualy do have a high accident rate, and maybe 16 is too early an age to drive. I didn't drive until I was 17 and made some idiotic mistakes I could have done without (I backed into an Iraqi guy's car somehow).

Just be happy that someone else is paying for your car insurance (which must be insanely high now) so you can still drive! LOL

I don't know about the 5AT, but in the 6MT you can safely hit VTec in the first gear and most of the time in the 2nd gear, but after that you need to slow down a bit as VTec in 2nd gear means almost 50mph.

Sounds to me like you want to have some revving fun while driving slowly. For that, and the unique feeling of a VTec kick, there's no car better than a Honda Fit. You can safely hit VTec in that car all the time and not worry too much about speeding.

This also makes me wonder about all these modern gigantic sedans with 250+ HP engines. They only take the fun out of driving with their heavy bodies and over-torqued engines as reaching the speedlimit becomes so effortless.

When I was 16 I drove my '86 Mercury Cougar into a canal. Luckily it wasn't full, and was muddy, so the car came out without a scratch. The police were actually really nice to me about it! I was shocked, especially since I didn't have a license on me. I was on my way back from the DMV. I had lost my license and was trying to get it reprinted, and in CA you need signed parental permission to do that when you're under 18. Anyway, I didn't get a ticket, only had to pay $90 for the tow. Was very lucky.

With that said, I got my first ticket when I was 18. 50 in a 35 zone.

I got my second and third ticket when I was 19, a week apart. This time I had a '96 Ford Thunderbird /w the 4.6L V8 (pretty peppy ). The first ticket was speeding on Pacheco Pass (hwy 152), 83 in a 65. The second was for breaking traction and involved a public defender (because it's a misdemeanor in CA...counts as a form of reckless driving/street racing), that wasn't fun, but it was lowered to a minor violation.

It took me 3 to learn, so I guess it's the saying "3's a charm!" lol

On a side note, how can you tell when VTEC kicks in? I know, I know...what a stupid question.

Wait your 17 and you already have a tsx? talk about high expectations. Or maybe i am jealous.

When i was 18 I got Three Tickets in the span of a month. And thats because i was young and stupid. Now i have been ticket free for a couple of years. My suggestion is you calm your led food down a little is not worth the money on tickets and insurance. and you are going to be saving what? five minutes?

Virginia was a good area to live, but not now.....human nature is changed, worst period for real estate, the laws become strict in every way......

this has gone so far off topic and useless, its locked. No more offensive language like in the first page, mmk? (S14, you too.)

BackToStock, if you need to, start a new thread and we'll see if people can keep it on topic, but I doubt it. This is more of ramblings material.
