OK kids, here I'm ready for all the negative responses this thread will warrant but I have to say it out loud to a community just 2 clicks away...
I've owned Hondas since '87, and have moved up from a few Si's, RSX-S to finally a TL ( believe me I considered a TSX just as I was looking at a TL and can say that the TL was as you would say..."closer to my age..47..
)
I got rid of my 2K Si for the fact that I got tired of having these other CIVICS pull next to me and rev so that I would either race them or bow to them..
, the 2002 RSX-S was what I thought "costly" enough that I wouldn't be taunted by the CIVIC owners, lol..I found some older BMW's and Mustangs now starting to take notice of me..
, so the TL seemed a vehicle that is a "more" mature and now I can drive it like I did all my previous cars with caution, respect and fast but now I'm finding that I have a new crowd of followers ( I use the term loosely) the TSX crew, I have been revved on, passed on the right, flashed and just annoyed by these drivers, I'm not sure if by de-badging the TL they think is a TSX or what but c'mon, I need to know what makes these guys want to be noticed.
I have yet to race someone who wants to race me simply because I'm over the tetosterone rush, penis envy thing...but why would your risk your life or anyone elses for the sake of saying o your friends I beat a TL...the TL is fast and faster than the TSX but not something to be proud of beating, would be like me going home and saying..."honey I beat a RL"..the wife would look at me and say..."what's a RL?"..
Again I'm a few clicks over the TL forum guys so no hate just an observation...and Nikki ...love your car..

Ummm dont race if you dont want too? Why would you even let it bother you? Are you that weak minded? Bow down to them? HA! What about not going to their level. At the end of the day your in TL and they are in a shitty civic. They can smoke you all they want.
I have a buddy who drives an M3 and never races..drives like hes 50+++ When asked why he doesn't race...He just said, "Theres no point, they are all lower then me." hehe maybe his cockyness is the right additude you need to take.

I don't know why any TSX would want to race a TL. There's no match or race to be had IMO.
Maybe you are taking it the wrong way and it's another Acura owner just wanting to say hello and nice car in some form or another. While driving my TSX, I would always wave/ nod at other Acura owners, regardless of what model they were driving.
Maybe you live in a town full of dipshits too.

But it isn't fair to make the assumption that EVERY tsx driver does that.
I seriously doubt that every tsx you see would do that too you, unless there's something about your car that MAKES them do so. If so, take it.

i dont understand why a tsx owner would want to straight line race a TL. I tend to think the tsx handles better, i personally wanted a smaller car as well.
where exactly are you being raced by all these tsx owners anyway.
as far as i know there have been over 200,000 TLs sold and maybe 45000 tsxs. SO there arent exaclty a horde of TSX drivers to race as it is.

My best advice- suck it up.
Second best, maybe get out of the fast lane and let people pass?
You have to have a think skin no matter what HondAcura you own.
I've had my run ins with TSXs, TLs, G35s, 3ers, 5ers, SLKs, CLKs, and every lux/sports vehicle other than Saabs or Volvos maybe. I go 90 mph everyday, even going up hill, and blokes want to pass me or try to pass, hang by my side for sec and then take off. I move to the right, keep it in cruise and think to myself "so what".
It happens to everyone and your TL isnt "special" enough.... in reference to the TSX, its only a couple thousand, so the competition is probably more natural than you want to admit to yourself, no offense.

You could have zero mods, but the second you debadge your car, you might as well put a bumper sticker back there that says "RACE ME!"
Funny though, I'm fairly modded, and debadged, but I hardly ever get revved on. Then again, most "cars" around here are actually trucks, jacked 20 ft high

I think you're just taking too much notice of TSX's...i believe it has something to do with your subconscience? Perhaps when you were buying your TL, you thought to yourself how much "cooler" and "better" you are than those buying a TSX. Perhaps you wonder if you car is as any bit as good as a TSX. Maybe it is, maybe it isn't. It seems like you just want to re-confirm to yourself that you made the right choice by speaking down on its younger brother the TSX. Maybe you're the arrogant one here. C'mon...describing a RSX-S because its "costly?" Or even taking notice of all the cars that rev at you? You seriously need to re-evaluate yourself...Its just a damn car. I bet more cars pass you that you don't even take notice of. Seriously...how many TSX's are there compared to G35's, 3 series, A4's, Etc? Not too many...I think you just take too much notice of these cars....Don't tell me you don't because it sounds like you keep note on how many civics/bmws/g35's/tsxs race at you. I bet they're not even racing at you...you're taking this way too seriously. Yeah theres alot of punks that love to race and speed...but thats a global problem...not TSX drivers in specificity...

IMHO, the TL and TSX are in the same category. The price difference is hardly significant, to me, the difference was either: +power for TL or +handling for TSX. The TL is more like a cousin than an older brother. The only "costly" Acura's are the RL and NSX.

for me the price difference between a tsx and tl would have been something like 7 grand + tax.
i guess the others brought up a point. maybe the original poster notices tsxs because he wanted to feel reassured that his 7k extra was well spent compared to these poseur tsx drivers.
well if it floats your boat, yes the TL is faster.

Hector aka HEK
i have no envy for TLs, i see 8-12 TLs and 10-15 MDXs daily, while there are about 3-4 TSX/RLs on my commute.
i like to go little over the speed limit, so if you're on the left driving slow then move right, else you're gonna get flashed or passed on the right, i don't tailgate. ever since i had my car lowered and got new rims, i've gotten revved on - i just ignore it.

here's an advice, stick to the right lane and no one will try passing you on the right. It's a little normal that if you cruise in the left lane you will get flashed and eventually passed on the right. Remember that people who usually drive TSX are car enthousiast (or women in here in Montreal). These people tend to drive with more enthousiast than TL owners (just an observation from people around my city). These TSX drivers may not be looking to race you (anyone sane wouldn't), they probably just want to pass or warn you of a fast car incoming.
I drive very very fast but I never race anyone. Some people try to keep up at times but I never instigate races.
That isn't a main reason,
but one of the reasons I got the BMW.
Everytime I see someone in a TSX,
they are so young and immature,
and when i was driving mine
(it may have been because I have the OEM kit and Silverstars)
all kinds of people used to drive next to me and annoy me,
and try to race me.
I haven't had any problems with my new car yet,
but I've only had it for 9 days.
So what car were you referring to?
You like the TSX, or the 330i?
If you like the TSX, want to buy it?

HEK, I'll offer my general observation that younger male drivers (of whom I am, sadly, no longer one) seem in a bigger hurry in general, more likely to want to race, and much more likely to take chances. I'm going to guess that, on average, male TSX drivers are 8 years younger than male TL drivers and maybe this accounts for part of it.
Drivers today are over-confident in their abilities and in their car's agility, and don't appear to be using their heads. They race around you (they'd go over you if they could), swerving through the lanes with no signals. They generally treat other cars on the road as obstacles rather than other people trying to get safely where they're going. And almost always, they're just racing up to the next light. They are insulated by their cars -- they do things they'd never do in person (butt in line, cut you off, flip you off, etc.) because they can. This lack of restraint and common sense comes from immaturity, something you find a lot in 23-28 yr old guys and their buddies.
I'm going to guess that's what you're seeing. I see it all the time, mostly in Pontiac Grand Prix. I'll also guess that this forum's members drive more responsibly than average -- I don't think it's the enthusiasts who drive poorly so much as the idiots who wouldn't know a crankshaft from a mineshaft but think they know how to zip around like they own the place.

HAHA...with ya. I see 1 TL every minute and I'm not lying either.
First off, if I'm driving fast its because I drive fast, not because I race. Secondly, I know better than to try to pull up on a TL or anything for that matter. It isn't worth it to me. Finally, if on a rare occassion someone tries to pull up on me, I'll probably wave you off.
Only place for racing is the track or a back ally where you can't kill the innocent. Kill yourself racing if you want, but spare the rest of us please.
Where's Nikki's car pics posted at?
Who gives a crap, you observe or are thinking about things too much. Just enjoy the drive man.
I would just trade in the TL myself and go join the Infiniti bandwagon and get an M45 if you want speed.

emm... According to his avatar/info, he already has one.
HEK, I can understand what you're saying, but then, I don't think it has to do with specific cars... It's really the people who drive these cars, no matter what the car is.... Just like sometimes you would see a$$holes driving caravan's down the highway at 85mph and cutting you off, or tailgate you in a geo metro, or wanting to race you at the stop light in their E class

While I love the TSX (almost bought one myself), I don't understand why some of the TSX owners here think it handles sooooo much better than the TL, especially when they're riding on stock suspension.

Of course the driver probably had a lot to do with the result, but I don't think the TSX can touch that.

I'm sorry, what?
The TL and TSX as well as the USDM Accord have double wishbone suspensions and the struts.
BTW - the TSX is 3300lbs. The difference in weight is only marginal.
And, I'm with NDX, there are a lot of hateful people on this board. I've driven both TL and TSX extensively and the TL's handling is superior. It has wider tires by 20mm (a total 3.15inch greater contact patch) in stock form. Add $200 to the price of a new TL 6spd and you not only have Brembo brakes that can stop the TL in 116ft, but you have Bridgestone Potenza tires:
"We found these Bridgestone Potenzas grippy and, combined with the solid chassis and precise steering, they allowed the TL to weave through the 600-foot slalom in a very quick 6.1 seconds — an average speed of 67.5 mph. This makes the TL one of the fastest cars we've ever taken through the cones; the fact that Acura can attain this with a front-drive platform makes this feat doubly impressive."
-edmunds.com
Taking 5.9 seconds to hit 60 and running the quarter mile at 14.6, and running through the slalom as fast as any BMW 3-series.... I'd say if the price difference is as minimal as some TSX owners make it out to be (and if as many could have afforded the TL, as they say), they missed out on owning a car that doesn't just beat the TSX - it completely obliterates it.
I like the TSX.. I genuinely do. It's a great car that does everything well, but it's place on the totem pole is below the TL and delusional TSX owners irk me.

You and the topic starter are projecting your own insecurities onto a broad number of TSX owners. Thats why your in a TSX board saying this, no? I suggest you whine on the TL boards, cuz you'll get more people to agree with you there.

I do think the TSX is more nimble, but I just don't like some TSX drivers making it sound like the TSX rides like its on rails while the TL rides like a buick... that's all.

300lbs is a LOT of weight to make up for in road racing/autoX whatever. The TSX will outhandle the TL assuming they have the same tires any day.
