Nighthawk Black

In sunlight the car appears to have some blue specks in it. A local detailer told me that is part of the color and that mercedes also has that type of color. I always assumed it was some soap residue maybe on the car. When sun is not out, the spots are not seen and car is real black. any thoughts?

Yup, I discovered this same thing one night when I was showing off my car in the parking lot. I noticed that the paint actually looked blue under the parking lot lights. Just the way the color is, nothing wrong...

It's probably the just the paint. Just like my ABP shows different shades of blue depending on the light.

YES! The NHB definitely has a lot of deep, deep blue in it. It's what makes it gorgeous! In fact, I wish the paint were even bluer than it is.... it's just gorgeous!

This board is not just entertaining, but also informative. I just washed my car and yes, I now see blue. Awesome!!!

There's a thread elsewhere on the site that talks about the fact that the carbon grey pearl looks blue in some lights, for the same reason - the chemical additives that give the paint finish its depth and luster also give it some complexity and sublety of color depth, depending upon the nature of the light that the car is in - the cgp color shifts from gunmetal to pure charcoal grey to a deep blue-grey, depending upon the light. THe "pearlescent" finishes have considerable depth, and will give a different "color read" than a flat paint, but are not as "brassy" as the metallic finishes featured on some cars. I think the quality of the pearlescent finishes that Acura uses on some of the cars are really great - far more interesting than a "monotone" finish.

Yeah, I had a NBP Accord before my TSX. The kid I sold it to got in an accident and had to get one side painted. The shop told him that the NBP is actually an extremely dark blue and not a black.

I don't know, maybe my color vision isn't working as well as you guys cause I never see any blue in it, but I'll take you word for it. All I gotta say though is the color is the frickin bomb. Chicks diggit. Last week I noticed a lipstick mark of a kiss on the outside of my back passenger window! I never had a girl hit on my car before..
