New Car Smell....
Everyone loves that smell don't they? Well I was watching CTV last night (Canadian Television) and they had this news report on the smell which is quite interesting.
"You know that great new car smell? The one that you can't quite put your finger on but that always seems to inspire a rush of pride in new car buyers? Well, it may be toxic."
The article can be found here too:

I guess we're all slowly dying....

Went over just this sort of thing in grad school....itwas part of a environmental health class. Someone actually tried to sue BMW (I think) because these chemicals were harmful.
BMW's answer? Open the window and let the fresh air in. Case dropped.

I'm amazed that no one seems to have figured out how to bottle that smell. "New Car Smell" fresheners smell terrible -- if you could make one that actually smells like the chemicals released by new vinyl/plastic/carpet/whatever, you'd make a mint!

Regardless, just using a good leather conditioner will keep your car smelling new and I doubt that it is toxic to breath the fumes....

The new car smell causes CANCER. This is old news. Like 5 years old. But according to THE DISCOVERY CHANNEL. Automakers are now more concerned with the smell of the interior and are addressing the issue.
So no worries here.

Leather is only part of it. I've read that the specific smell is glue. Mmmm, bring on the carcinogens!
Besides, our leather is nothing special.
Now the leather in my mom-in-law's Lexus…THAT smell makes my boy parts tingle a bit.

New car smell
The " Yankee Candle Co." leather air freshner works awsome, brings that new car smell back and last for about 2 months .

I may be fat but I'm slow
Buy the leather care kit from Griot's Garage for $30, and it comes with (aside from two kinds of cleaners, sponges, and a brush) a spray bottle of "Leather Scent." A couple of squirts under the driver and passenger seat and your car smells WONDERFUL for a week. I keep it in my armrest, and take hits often. I usually spray it right before a person I don't know well gets in the car, for that good first impression
