A new benchmark?

How do you tell when something is a benchmark? Isn't one of the ways that we begin to refer to it by comparison when we're talking about something else?

This from the October C&D in a short review of the G35 6MT: "Unlike a buttery Acura TSX or BMW 3-series........the G35 does require some deliberation when shifting....."

Mentioned right there with the 3. Maybe the TSX is already becoming a standard?

BTW, no car yet. Now they're saying tomorrow or Saturday.

Good news for TSX, bad news for Ish.

Admirable that at a moment like this, you're actually able to lead off with the former.

Yeah, it means maybe TSX is getting there. Of course "true benchmark" takes some time.

I think the shifter in the TSX can definately be called a benchmark. Honda has always been a leader in this department.

It's ironic that some benchmarks involve real world driving (like smooth shifting), but others reflect more extreme driving (like slalom/zig-zag testing for handling and body roll or the best 0-60mph times). IMHO, benchmark products contain both material and immaterial attributes.

So you've been here since July. Just long enough to soak up some of the wit and wisdom of the assembled masses here. With all you've learned already, just think how great it's going to be when you can post about your own experiences!

Hang in there, because unlike what it may seem like now, both the clock on the wall and the calendar are moving!

Oh, I can't believe it's September already. The weather's been feeling chillier, and the sun is lower earlier and earlier in the evening.

I wish I could alternate between the northern and southern hemispheres every six months to have perpetual summer. I could have a TXS for use in the northern hemisphere and a Euro Accord L for use in Oz or NZ.

Gotta win the Lotto, gotta win the Lotto, gotta win the Lotto!
