Red face Never thought I would be 'that guy'...

I always though I was going to keep my TSX for 5 years, that would give me 1yr of no payments, well I got the bug after 2.5 years with the TSX...

My wife-to-be has a Mazda 3s so our cars are quite similar from a functional standpoint and with all the mtn biking, skiing and climbing we do, we (well mostly me) wanted something with a little more utility, so i am getting pretty close to buying an '06 Subaru Outback 2.5 XT Limited 5MT.

I have test driven the car and the turbo is quite fun, once it spools up the car just takes off. The car is no tsx in terms of handling, but it has close to 9" of ground clearance so what can you do I hope a stiffer RSB will tighten things up a little.

I am pretty excited to have a wagon with AWD and turbo, I hope everything works out. Well thanks for listening.

That's cool Virus. Good luck with the new ride. And don't worry about being "that guy". People move on to different cars for many reasons and I respect everyone that makes that decision. I mean, after all, you're the person who drives the car everyday. Just make sure to still come around and check in sometimes

2) i have to have my manual tranmission
3) i've got the bug now and i'd like to have the car for the summer to do some outdoor stuff
4) i think an outback would smoke an rdx

Virus, I'd at least wait for the RDX, don't rush into something you might later regret. I currently have a AT CSX loaner with paddle shifters and they work alot better than the SS on the TSX. Quick shifts and nice positioning. In the end its still an AT yes but its definently fun to use, especially considering the certain mod potential for Honda's first Turbo.

Oh, and the outback looks like

Well at least you seem to have good reason to make the change -- unlike "those people" who go through cars like underwear. I must ask, why not sell/trade the Mazda instead? BTW, I agree with you that the subie wagon would be the better way to go rather than a SUV. You see them all over Colorado (for good reason).

stl, i would love to keep the tsx and sell the mazda, but i have a mortgage coming up and selling the tsx will lower my monthly payment (not the reason for the switch), but getting rid of the mazda would raise it and i didnt think that was a good idea right now.

either way wish me luck i am off for another 250hp wagon drive

Is the performance on the manual wagon the same as the sedan, 0-60 in ~5.3 seconds? If so, the wagon is an awesome choice. Easy to modify, tons of Subaru parts to choose from.

i think you might be thinking about the legacy sedan and wagon, the outback has the same engine and i have seen times as fast as 5.9, but definitely a fun car.

I am 'that guy'

well the time is here, my '06 Subaru Outback 2.5 XT Limited Obsidian Black Pearl should ready to pick up tomorrow.

but great news the TSX will still be in the family, i will be selling it to my parents, so whenever i miss it i can take the 2hr drive to see it.

I will be removing all of my mods...body kit (my dad says it makes it look like a 'pimp car' ), k&n intake, rsb and i will be removing my icelink. they should be in the black market section in the next week or so.
