Need new Tires
Need new Tires
Hi All,
I have 2 worn out tires and 2 Michelin Primacy MXV4's with about 7/32's remaining. I was thinking of getting 2 Continental PureContact with EcoPlus Technology to replace the bad tires. All 4 are 215/50Z17. Thoughts?
Thanks and Happy Holidays.

In which case, you'll be fine. Having mixed tires isn't ideal, but I doubt you'll really notice.
Put the new tires on the rear.
Or find 4 on sale and sell the other two.
If $$ is an issue... Sometimes on eBay you can find the same used Michelin tires with same or close amount of wear as your existing Michelin for about $80 each. It is very hit or miss; especially, finding two with the same treadwear.
I never really liked the Michelin's in winter because the traction wasn't that great for slushy snow (just OK on fresh snow). The Michelin's really get noisy on the hwy as the tread wears down. The Continentals would be a very good choice for longer treadwear, less noise, and better traction in bad weather.
You should get into the habit of doing a rotation and then cross rotation of the tires every oil change to spread out the wear evenly and that helps keep the noise down as the tires wears. I would even do a road force balance when the tires go on and do an alignment. I have Conti DWS tires on my TSX and I keep the PSI around 33-34 PSI all around instead of 32/front and 30/rear. The TSX feels better at the higher PSI.
