Wife's new car, replaced her Lexus LS

After 8 years in her Lexus LS, she wanted a new car. As many of you that followed our TSX loaner that we put almost 1500 miles, she loved it. She keeps her cars a long time. Waited till the GS-F prices were released, but it was over our budget of what she was comfortable spending.

Her requirements were:

-Handled well
-4 doors
-Moonroof
-Fun to drive
-Has to be able to take our two kids in the back

Car she test drove all this week:
Accord Sport Sedan Manual
CPO C63AMG
Caddillac ATS
TLX (again, but V6 this time)
M3 V8, convertible CPO
GTI
Leftover 320, stripped down, manual
Mazda 3 Hatchbak

As the test drives went, she liked the AMG sound the most. But while we test drove things, she didn't want an automatic anymore. Which helped eliminate many of the choices.

So we went out and looked at a few things (buying a car with a woman is quite difficult), and she decided for the current needs, this works for her the best.

Initially she paid for and got the Premium model. We went to pick up, and when we drove it again, the shifter felt notchy and very long. Window said had short shifter, but dealer said it didn't. $390 for the short shifter part + $80.

However, instead of paying essentially $500 for the shifter, they had another one coming off the truck that had the short shifter installed, but was a LIMITED model. They offered the limited for $900 more, so we got that.

It came with leather, different headlights, and the short shifter.

We never get a new car warranty, they quoted $2700 for 100k 7 year bumper to bumper warranty. We did some online research that a MA dealer was selling it for $1495, and this dealer matched it. Given some ringland/headgasket issues prior, $1495 was piece of mind since she keeps the car a while.

She is happy with it, and that is all that matters She didn't get the smart key, that is the only thing she wanted, but that is bundled with a $3000 option and they didn't have it in blue, black or grey only

So now I will have to budget on changing tires a lot more than I was used to on her Lexus

Unexpected for sure

But that is why test drives are important
She isn't a brand snob so that helped

Also as we get older maybe we want to stay young

Does that little flappy thing cover the hole if you're not using it? That looks terrible!

Ah, that's nice. At least it can be hidden but you're right. That's pretty cheap. Couldn't even finish stitch the edges or put a trim piece on it?

Way to go subie!

Overall though, nice looking car.

Compared to the wagon it's very cheaply done, yes

Nice pickup!

I test drove a newer WRX and man, absolute torque monsters and the car is very comfortable.

My phone doesn't fit in the cubby either

On the tsx wagon I put my phone on the side pocket of console

However the visibility is amazing compared to the tsx
The instrument console is much lower
And front quarter windows help

However wipers are visible
Tsx wiper being invisible was a nice touch

With the 4 k rpm limit on break in haven't really felt any torque, yet 940 more miles to go

However first subaru where shifter even feels close to my s2000 quality
