need advice

My check engine light is on ...2004 tsx..the code stated i need a vavle timing oil switch? What is this is this something major is this a censor or is this a part...the repair is telling me its a censor but when i looked it up its a part...is this something that will cause the car to run bad? Will it cause the engine to blow? I just purchased this car and im concern that this may not have been a good car to purchase used...any input is appreciated.

Might just be the sensor. But...the car was probably run low on oil before and the timing chain stretched.

Check the oil. Most of these cars burn a little bit. You almost definitely need to add oil between changes.

It's hard to say. Could be a faulty switch, could be a short, who knows. I recommend taking it to your local shop for a full diagnosis.
