NBP, is it truly timeless?

I'm pretty close to finalizing this deal, just gotta select a color and sign the papers. Here's the situation though: because I'm trading in an 04 TSX, the value is going to drop significantly at the end of the year, and they won't be able to honor the price they're currently offering for the trade in now. What this means is that it's going to potentially cost me over $2k more if I decide to wait on a special order. So, I'm limited to what they can get their hands on before year's end if I want to take advantage of the deal I've worked out, which is basically $10500 OTD going from an 04 5AT nonnavi (33k miles) to an 06 5AT navi (damn the 8.1% AZ sales tax). Unfortunately this completely precludes getting a 6MT, but given vtec.net's favorable impressions on the 06 5AT and the fact that I've only had about an hour's worth of experience trying to learn manual, it's not a complete loss =P

I was hoping to get a PWP/ebony but there just aren't any! Either dealers didn't order for fear that they wouldn't be popular or they're just plain sold out. So I'm basically looking at an NBP/ebony 5AT Navi. While PWP/ebony was my first choice due to Lito's awesome job on his white Mugen TSX, I really like the photos that I've seen of the black TSX. Markcoburn's photos and Neochaser's photos are very nice and the car definitely looks sleek and classy.

With my MSM I claybar'd and put 3 coats of Zaino on the car pretty soon after I got it, and washed the car pretty regularly. After awhile I just wasn't getting a noticeable return on all my sweat and labor, cause MSM hides all of the dirt to begin with. Keeping a black car clean requires so much more discipline and I'm sure that the NBP will whip me back into shape and I'll be Zainoing weekly again soon enough. I'm going to Clearbra the entire hood btw, and Rockblocker has that size 3M Scotchguard available.

With that said, I'm wondering what 04 and 05 owners think of their NBP at this stage in their car's lives. How has it held up? Is NBP truly classic and timeless? Or does it just drive you nuts cause you can see every speck of dust that your car picks up?

Thanks for your input =)

I think it's the second best color for the TSX behind the white, but the white can get really dirty looking too, so don't let that bother you too much

Closing in on the 9 month mark... yes, NBP is a PITA to keep looking "sparkling" clean, but I really don't think it looks that bad as long as you give it a wash every 2-3 weeks and a waxing every few months. I know there are some MANIACAL forum members that wash and wax their whips every few days, but sometimes that's just not feasible. Personally, I still think that the way a shiny black car looks (especially at night with reflections from all the lightposts) is "timeless." This was my first black vehicle, with the vast majority of my last few cars being silver.

Even in my day of ownership, it is very evident that keeping the car clean is going to be a pain in the ass, but the car does indeed look stunning. My new NHB will hopefully stay cleaner than my CG did.

The plot thickens, I may be able to get ahold of an NHB/ebony MT/Navi but it might not make it here before January. He's asking for an additional 400 to compensate for the KBB loss in resale value that will happen on Jan 1. It should be a bigger loss than that right? Considering it's a new year and all? I'm not ready to drive an MT, I'm still paranoid of downshifting too early or by accident and blowing the engine.

Yui, don't worry about learning to drive an MT. Learning will come quickly. Choose the transmission you think you'll be happy with.

NBP > ALL (even lito's car hahahaha)

Seriously though,.....I would kill to have a car that looked like lito's,.....but in black. That will never happen,.........but I got my buddy to photoshop it for me so I would know what it would look like LOL.

Yeah, I think a black Mugen'd TSX would look great too. I just haven't seen any photos of one. Care to post or link the photoshops your friend did? =)

This is turning in to a pics thread. Silver is so easy to keep clean! I love it. Specially during winter.

Best way for him to see what colors look the best. Personally, maintaining the black is not that big of an issue to me. During the winter, who cares that it gets dirty, its winter and during the summer, it stays clean unless it rains.

Keeping black and the darker coloured TSX's clean is one thing, but what about nicks and scratches? I've heard Honda uses cheap/thin paint...how are your TSX's holding up in that respect? How's the front bumper?

I have a Dark blue which is just as bad as black and I don't think the paint is holding up well at all. Unless your are meticulous about keeping your car clean (like I used to be but no longer am) I advise staying awy from the darks

I want a trade for the color alone.

LOL. Actually that is the reason I asked my buddy to do it. Besides wondering what your awesome TSX would look like in black,.........I wanted to see what gold rims like yours might look like on a NBP TSX. I wanna get rims next summer if I can and was thinking gold might look really good. It does look hot for sure.

Nice ride Virtualbong. I really like the shine.

So the sales rep's told me that the KBB trade in value update is going to take place on Feb 1 instead of Jan 1 like he originally thought, and he's going to be able to honor the price we originally agreed on of 10.5k OTD for a new 06 with an 04 trade in. He's also currently looking into other possibilities that will be coming in around mid Jan, 6MT/Navi/ebony/*. I may not go with NHB in the end but I still think it's a great color =) I'll keep y'all posted on what I go with.

in my area, white gets just as dirty as black, because of salt and snow. so for 4 months out of the year white = ugly brown/yellow/white.

yeah, I guess it depends on the area!! Only reason I don't like about NBP is that you can see everything. screctches, swirl marks and rock chips.

if that's such a concern, only safe color is silver. but yes, black does show scratches the worst.

IMO, pros outweight the cons

Don't get me wrong people, I do like the other colors, but there's something about black that no other color can touch.
