Navi overseas capable?

Does anyone know if the navi can be updated with info from another country if I were to move overseas with the car?

I have a portable Garmin, but would much prefer to buy a car with the integrated GPS if maps are available for other countries.

I'll be driving it here for at least a year & a half first, but since I expect to own it for at least 4 or 5, the majority of my time owning it will be in another country. (The job is paying to ship the car.)

As to where, I know this isn't very helpful, but it's only been narrowed down to far east or central Europe. Oh, or possibly GB.

Most of the navi data as far as maps are stored on the DVD. I would imagine that you should be able to obtain a DVD in Europe that would work in the car.

Lease the car now and buy a new one when you go to another country.

Yeah, but I imagine the bootup logo would be Honda, instead of Acura.

Perfect, so as long as the car is sold where I'm going (& navi is available) it should be similar to my portable GPS in that I can just upload new maps?

Lease the car now and buy a new one when you go to another country.
I considered that, but they limit your down payment on the lease, so that the monthly payment is pretty high. At least that's what the online calculator indicated. Am I wrong? I was hoping for a close to even trade if I sell my truck privately.

As long as it works, it can say "Bite Me" when it loads for all I reallyl care!

Thanks guys!

I'm not sure it would work. You might want to check with Acura or Alpine to see if they would play. I mean, 04/05 discs in North America can't play 06 Discs. I know it's a hardware upgrade but I believe TL's can't play MDX's etc. due to the options on the vehicle because the NAVI controls different options? All in north America.

Here's what the FAQ satys about different NAVI discs:
Will an update DVD be compatible with my vehicle?

Yes. The latest version DVD will work in any Honda or Acura vehicle using an orange-labeled DVD, back to and including the 2003 models.

Note: Orange, black, white and turquoise-labeled DVDs are not interchangeable.

Here's another FAQ with the #:
How can I find out what cities or areas are covered by my navigation system?
A detailed city listing for your navigation system DVD version is available online at:
www.acuranavi.com or
www.hondanavi.com.

There is no listing of cities with unverified coverage at this time.

Note: The DVD Fulfillment Center cannot answer detailed technical or coverage questions. For help with technical of coverage issues, consult Acura Client services at 1-800-382-2238, or Honda Customer Relations at 1-800-999-1009.

Or check the Acura.com site for more on Navi Updates.
