that is the question in my mind.

Since I'm new to the NYC/Jersey area, I can't imagine living without the navi. if you know your area REALLY well, then it's a hard choice since $2000 is a lot of money. Still, if you ever think you might need the navi in the future, you might as well get it now (assuming you can afford it) cuz an aftermarket navi will never be as well integrated with the other TSX systems.
And oh yeah... It's DAMN f****n cool!!!

Get the Navigation!
If you have the car for a couple years, most cars will have navi when you are trying to sell yours. It is a good way to keep up with technology.
Oh yeah, I am driving a loaner tsx now without and I miss it already.

I think its ultra cool, but decided against it b/c of the money. I've found 3-4 times when I wish I had it, but on a day to day basis, I can't think of when I'd need it.

if you have the extra $2000, I would go for it. $2000 isn't really set in stone though, when I bought my car, the dealer only charged me $1550 more for the nav.
I think the cool factor is a big boost in my decision, but I also travel a lot on mini road trips. I also think it comes in hangdy when I am facing 2+ hours of traffic and just take the local roads to get home thanks to the nav.
I am not sure if you are interested in putting a dvd player in the car, but the nav can be converted for about $500 if that makes a difference.
Hope that helps.

NY, NJ, and DC driving here. just detours thru congested highways is worth it alone.
once an explorer tailgated me to the mobil station at night, told me his wife was looking at my gps and wants one
plus not having maps stuffed all over the car, and getting out to ask directions...priceless

Best 2K I spent on something as far as I recall.
Yes, it definitely boosts the "cool" factor....but the coolness will not last very long
In a couple of years, IMO, most new cars will have this option at a MUCH lower price.
But the "usefulness/convenience" factor - different story:
Asking directions, looking all over the place for a frigging building number, guessing where you are, time-wasted, terra-incognita anxiety.....all things of the past.
I love it when someone gives me the address and then follow on with directions, I stop him & say "Thanks, I know exactly how to get there...."

My wife and I are going to be buying a TSX soon, and we're fortunate enough (depending on how you look at it) to be able to afford everything we want on it an pay outright due to an insurance settlement. We're going to be getting Navi, not only for the cool factor, but because we'll be moving soon and it will be invaluable in getting to know the area. Plus, we like to road trip a lot, too. If you can afford the 2k, I think it's definitely worth it.

Also think about the fact that it's not $2000 you're just throwing away. It will add to your resale value when you're done with the TSX. I'm not saying you'll get the full $2000 back, far from it, but it will add value to the car for both the equipment and the exclusivity.

i like the navi for the hands-free control over the climate control and audio system (and the navigation as well)... that way, i can drink my soda w/out having to fiddle with the radio at the same time... =P
besides, even if you want to get a navi device later, it probably won't come with a 8" touch-screen...

I have never for a minute regretted getting the Navi! Everyone's been way impressed with it, but most importantly, it has saved me from a few tight situations where I got completely lost at night. I love it!!! Don't forget that apart from showing the maps, it also has the phone number of the stores listed too. That is just amazingly handy.
BTW, if you finance your car, then $2000 over several years is not too bad, is it?

yeah it's worth it and it's cool, but if you can use a map/internet and plan on keeing your car for a long time, not really. i hear the nav system is one of the most user-friendly, so that's a plus. on the other hand, i think the dash without it looks much better (just my opinion though). sounds like you would want it though, so go for it!

Navi is the best $2000 you can spend, way better than the Benz Navi and the screen is amazing - you will not get an aftermarket system in the TSX that will be this good. The Navi is proably the biggest reason I wound up getting the TSX instead of the RSX-S. Voice control is just the epitome of cool too.

Navi also Give you Trip Computer: Tell you how much your comsuption of gas and how much it is left. and Voice Activated Button to control your CD, Air Conditioning, and Navi.
Voice Activated is a very nice addon since you don't need to use your hand to adjust Radio Station, A/C, and even tell you the time.
I think it is a must, and I won't buy any vechicle in the future without one.

All joking aside, I wish I had gotten the nav.

I love my navi, but if I were giving advice to someone else, I'd first ask where they live. In Eastern Massachusetts, *all* roads seem to be mapped. But, when I venture too far into New Hampshire, for example, many of the roads are "unverified." If you try to map an unverified destination, you'll often get less efficient routing or -- even worse -- when you start driving on an unverified road, all you get is a dotted line pointing you in the compass direction of your destination. If you don't live in a heavily mapped area, you migth consider skipping it.
