The Name
I don't think we ever had a definite answer. After a while people just started giving stupid funny answers, most of which had to do with "sex."
Meanwhile, I'm satisfied (so to speak) that the basic answer really is just that. You know how sometimes they come up with the abbreviation or the acronym FIRST, then they figure out what (if anything) the letters stand for? My strong guess would be that the main reason they picked "TSX" was that the last two letters unmistakably suggest you know what, at least subliminally. And IMO that wasn't a bad idea.

I thought that expression came in and went out in the '60's and early '70's, and so you had to be an old dude. Guess not!

SeXmobile (arrrrgh. sorry!)
That the SX would suggest sex...well...if true, that's kind of cheesy and crass. But who knows, with the TSX's ambient blue pimp lights??? Hmmm. It's a good reason to bring a little taste to the car and debadge it, IMHO.
SX is also a dated use of initialisms. Didn't Datsun/Nissan have their run with SX's? The forgettable 200SX comes to mind.
I would prefer car model names rather than initials, but certainly not the Acura Terrific SeXmobile, please!
All these people thinking TSX is a NEW name. For shame. Have you peeps already forgotten that there is an RSX as well as the NSX? I think Acura just figured those letters worked well and threw in the T just so it could be associated with it's sportier line as opposed to the _L series which seems to be targeted towards a more conservative buyer, and yes I took into account the type_ versions of the _L series as well.
Is it likely that I am wrong? VERY
EDIT: Adfter realizing the MDX I guess I am totally wrong....

Hey, James -- when you said that, I just had to check and see your age -- 15!

Pure speculation but lets look at a few things Acura has done in the past.
NS-X (notice the hyphen)
TL-X
CL-X
RS-X
These "x's" were done for prototypes, of course the NSX and RSX kept it.
X has been implied that it means "sporty or experiment"
TL = Touring Luxury
CL = Coupe Luxury
MDX = ?
RSX = ?
RL = ?
NSX = New Sport eXperiment
TSX = Touring Sport eXperience (like Windows eXPerience?)
Just a guess.

Yeah, but the question is, why were they glad to keep the "X" in there"?
(I mean with ALL of those that y'all mention, including NSX and RSX.)
And what we're saying (those of us with either good marketing sense or maybe just juvenile minds) is: (see above)

Sounds OK, except, those dudes make a great point that TSX is in the tradition of those similar Acura names. Those include NSX and RSX.
And I don't think "X for cross" works on those.
I think it's mainly just the sound and look of the letters themselves. Maybe it's juvenile, but it's also probably good marketing.

TSX would be the next letter after RSX that made sense, they had to skip past "s" because a SSX just wouldn't sound right.
As far as Acura is concerned, the "x" at the end designates a "sport" model.
