my quick review

i picked up my car on saturday. it was a new 2004 SSM/5AT. i want to say that I LOVE THIS CAR. i came from a 98 civic coupe, so there are some apparent differences (good and bad)...here are my quick thoughts:

-way more usable power than the honda...i havent "pushed" the car yet, but pulling it up to around the 4000rpm range in 2nd to 3rd, you can feel the torque. cant wait until the break-in period is done. i want to hammer that v-tec.
-inside is beautiful and functional...'nuff said. the ambiance is really nice, espcially at night.
-my civic was dropped hard, so riding in a non-lowered car is different. i feel like im in a monster truck. the TSX is real tight and stiff though. i was worried the suspension would feel washed out...but thats not the case
-for me, the seating is still a tad tight. my right leg hits the bottom of the dash when driving. but what are you going to do when you are 6'1"
-the gas pedal took some getting used to because its floor mounted.
-i dont like the way the horn is (middle of the wheel). on the civic, the horn was where the audio/cruise controls are on the TSX's wheel. i find it easier to have the horn at your thumb. when i am driving near other parked cars, i like to have my horn at hand so i can warn them if need be (no one uses their mirrors in toronto).

overall, im really happy with it. i just to make sure i dont start buying toys for it....although the car is SCREAMINNG for a nice CAI......

Thanks for the review. I will be replacing my 98 civic ex coupe with an 05 TSX in a few weeks. I am wondering how different it will feel. My civic isn't lowered so I guess it won't feel too different in height for me. I'm also wondering how the gas petal will feel. I don't remember being uncomfortable during my test drive, but it was a short drive.

Definately excited about the extra power and luxury. (and admittedly a little nervous about having such a nice car)

The civic has been a great car for 6+ years now.

my thoughts exactly...im nervous now driving this car. if anyone damages it, i will flip out.

i didnt realize the pedal was even like that when doing the test drives...but now that i have driven it a bit, its noticably different.

Mr. Porkchop....... glad you are enjoying your 04 TSX..... was it worth the money???

As you are aware, I will be picking up my 05 white TSX in early January. How was your experience with your dealership?.. where you able to get them to throw some free stuff your way??????

I was driving a lowered 90 Integra prior to my TSX, and it definitely felt like I was riding a hovercraft the first hundred miles. But I have gotten used to the TSX's comfortable ride (and power).

And a suggestion: Do a search on how to break-in your car. You mentioned you "wanted to hammer that v-tec." After the first 100 miles or so, you should begin to properly rev the engine by varying rpms (ie. bursts to redline, followed immediate cooling down period in the lower rev range) so you can get the proper sealing and wear pattern on the engine's surfaces.

at the dealership, the guy told me that there is no real "break-in" period, but to just watch the revs.....i figured it was BS.

thanks docboy...

also...i just wanted to add this: i am not seeing (or hearing) any rattles with the car. maybe im just used to my noisy honda....

there seems to be a lot of people on here that complain about certain noises (ie windshield, door panel, etc). did they start right away or after a few months???
