My Lights Got Me in trouble!
My Lights Got Me in trouble!
So some random guy i was driving behind thought i was high beaming him and expressed his anger at the stop light. Threatened to kick my ass cus i high beamed him for a whole 2 miles.
Ive had instances where ppl would flash their brights at me thinkin im flashing them....
but first time ive been threatened. haha i just thought it was funny.
Neone else have this happen to them? Im pretty sure its happened to all of us at least once right?
I wonder if it would make any sense or if it were even possible to lower em a bit so i dont get myself into too much trouble in the future.

You might in fact have a headlight aim that is a bit too high. I don't know how to check this, I was invited to learn and use sometype of machine to aim, but I never went. Obviously since your under warranty take it back and ask for verficication aim. At least in CA, I believe there are laws against high aimed lights.

I had something like that too... a person would goe in and out of the lanes, usually I think there on a cellphone..
If i look at night my lights make a visible horiztonal line, but on my car the left starts off higher and then you look at the horizion dips as it gets to the right side only about an inch.
Anyone know that i'll try take a picture.

i believe that the left is supposed to be lower then the right atleast that is the way it is on my car that way the left light does not blind on coming traffic.
Another possible reason for the driver in front of you think you had your high beam on is uneven pavement. i don't know the road condition from where you are, but I noticed, especially here in toronto, that uneven pavement would cause your headlights to aim at a certain angle (for a fraction of a second), leading to the seemingly flashing effect of your HID, which we all know, can be blinding.

The Beast is the most powerful flashlight SureFire has ever produced for civilian sale. Utilizing a xenon-fill high-intensity discharge (HID) arc lamp, it puts out 2000 lumens of blinding white light — 120 times the light output of a typical two D-cell alkaline flashlight. HID lamps are extremely efficient — for an equivalent power input they provide more than twice the lumens of incandescent lamps. An additional benefit: they have no filament to break or burn out so they should never need replacing.
The Beast is constructed from aerospace-grade aluminum with an extremely rugged Military Specification Type III hard-anodized finish. It features a unique rotating switch — push counter-clockwise for momentary-on or twist clockwise for constant-on — and a lock-out tailcap to prevent accidental activation during transportation or storage.
Designed for open-area tactical applications such as border patrol, maritime interdiction, and long-range target identification, The Beast performs under all weather conditions. And it’s brutally tough — so resistant to mechanical shock and vibration that the U.S. military has adapted a version for use on heavy machine guns.
Power is supplied to the Beast by twenty 123 lithium batteries held securely inside four cylindrical chambers machined into the flashlight body. In combination with the highly efficient HID lamp, these energy-dense batteries provide a remarkable runtime of 1½ hours.
Only 85 Beasts are being offered for sale to private citizens. Limited to one per customer and available exclusively through SureFire, each one is serial numbered and comes in its own waterproof, airtight Hardigg Storm Case® along with a letter of authenticity from SureFire founder and CEO John Matthews.

That thing will actually blind someone if you shine it directly into their eyes. The effect is similar to Welders Flash where you get a splitting headache and can even cause you to throw up.
It's designed to illuminate boats coming into port so a close encounter isn't fun.

i have to drive a "hilly" back road on my way home from work and this happens to me quite a bit while i am driving home. i have had 2 different people pull over, let me pass, and then highbeam me the whole rest of the way.

Do we need the profanity Steph? Haha...

I just flash my highbeams at people when they think I am highbeaming them. There are more and more cars here around cali with the Xenons, so I think more people are starting to get use to them. It doesn't happen as often as it use to.
I do notice that more people move out of my way then they use when I had my old car. It's great!

any way.... aside from that, it seems that i do get high beamed here every once n a while... and like the rest of us i flash my highbeams. ive noticed now depending on where i drive behind someone i can either be a jerk or be some what civilized.
in my neighborhood, its a new community with young familys of people who are just out of college and towards the back there are the more wealthy people who are a tad bit older. well it seems these young adults have alot of free time, more than those who are in the back and they are taking more of the inciative to run the community home owners association. well they arent too happy with the people who drive faster though the streets to get to the back of the circle (the community is on a 3 mile circle around the lake with houses branching off the circle in the back). so now these people in the front, they leave thier kidsout in the street to play, like someone would on a culdesack, and they get annoyed that epople are driving past thier house at probably 30 mph ish.
well getting back to the high beams, driving to the left of someone almost in the middle of the road tends to hit them in thier mirror. well now after following a few nieghbhors into the complex, i realized this and didnt want to be a jerk, so i moved back over to the left... but those other few, i tend to lean back out to the left.. if it gets bad enough ill high beam them until they nicely pull over and i give me right away. bah i feel like a jerk tho when i do it

that'll blind 'em for sure.
I've been flashed exactly three times in five and one half months. Probably all times I was coming off a slight incline and then dropping in front of on-comer. HID's in other cars bothered the s**t out of me when they first appeared, especially the bluish ones. but I think they have been around long enough now, to the point everyone is getting used to encountering them. The little shock of the new has passed.

So what if he has a gun? What is he gonna do shoot him infront of other people and go to jail for the rest of his life?
i dont know about other parts of the country, but where i live, people dont really get bothered by HIDs anymore. SUV lights seems to bother a lot of them. my friend (drives a chevy tahoe) gets bitched at by everybody because he blinds them with his headlight.

to lower the HID beam...all you have to do is to adjust a little silver bolt that's attached to the back of the projector, it should be really easy to find, actually i just did mine a couple days ago, i acutally made the beam shoot a bit higher cuz my car is lowered by 1"
i get shit all the time for my lights. its obvious, we have projectors and xenons. they are white, bright and aimed to go far, it gets peoples attention. my friends always say how annoying it is if we're dirving near eachtoher. its how they made them and people just see the contrast from shitty yelow light to our bright stuff

Whack the guy with it and then shine it in his eyes.
