Mugen and USA tsx

Has anyone installed a mugen front aero bumper on an American TSX yet? Anyone know if it fits or is street legal?

I believe there is a standard of bumpers being able to withstand 5mph hits without significant damage to the performance of the vehicle.
For example, the EVO's of previous generations in europe and japan weren't allowed in to the US primarily due to their huge radiator being installed into their front bumpers. If you hit something, then you're car is undrivable.

Junkster, who wonders who decides on these laws...

Also, I believe that there are some pedestrian protection laws designed to limit injuries when you run over people. In any event, the good people at king motorsports expressed some reservations about its legality and fitment on the american tsx.

That's correct, but MOST (not all) aftermarket bumpers just replace the factory bumper covers. Nowadays, the "bumpers" on the modern cars are just bumper covers. The actual bumper is underneath the bumper cover. So as long as the aftermarket bodykits just replace the bumper covers, they should be legal.

the bumper design(inside) of a Japanese Accord and our TSX is different. in Japan, the laws about re-bars are a lot less stirct than here and often use a smaller re-bar on the same model of car sold here in Canada.

that's why most of the japanese aftermarket full front bumper kit needs the removal or modification to the rebar to fit on a North Amercian model of the same car.

Is it legal to modify the rebar in US? Could be a problem when it comes time to sell or trade.
