AT-to-MT Frankenstein??

I've got my flame suit on so I'm ready for it bring on the "you should have bought a MT in the first place"
Just for future reference (if I ever burn out my transmission) is it a direct swap MT for AT is there space in the footbox in a AT car for a clutch pedal and what would be needed to complete the switch and make it seemless. Transmission clutch clutch pedal gauges anything else I'm missing feel free to fil in the blanks. Thanks guys

I know your kinda expecting this, but it seems like it might cost close to the same amount of trading it in for a MT, and you'll have a factory MT and the tranny warranty

I've seen tons of Honda transmission swaps first hand... lets see...

6MT Accord Sedan (6MT from coupe)
6MT Accord Coupe (the older models) (J32 and 6MT from CL)
6MT Civic (K24 block/K20A heads/K20A 6MT)

I've even seen an Lotus Elise with a K20A2 and 6MT.

Its not hard to find a good shop to do it for you, or you could do it yourself.
You can find and examine parts at these websites:
http://www.acuraautomotiveparts.org
http://www.acuraparts247.com

You will probably needs the manual ECU, shifter (arm, fork, lever), transmission (of course), and other things.

I know a local shop down here in Los Angeles that does tranny/engine swaps for Honda's. They're called C&C Auto and right now they're currently doing a 7th generation Accord Coupe with a K24A2 swap.

Not worth the effort. You'll spend more trying to do the conversion than you would just trading in your AT for an MT.

Quick list of major components:
-tranny
-clutch/flywheel/associated components
-gauge cluster
-ECU
-shift linkage assembly

You're probably looking at about $5000 to $7000 in parts plus another couple grand to get it installed. Or you could just sell your 5AT and buy a 6MT.

Well some dealerships are scarce with 6MTs and actually mark them up here in So. Cal. So you never know, you probably could easily get a perfect new transmission and parts from a wrecked TSX. I've seen of plenty of people who have done this and have swapped it in their Civics/RSX's.

But if you just crave more performance out of your TSX I'd seriously advise you to just get Hondata.

Best bet is to sell or trade for the 6MT.

Sounds like it would be very expensive. You might just want to consider getting Hondata first if you want more performance

The trade-in isnt really in my future as I really dont want to get rid of the AT right now because I'm going to be working and trying to get a business of the ground ASAP so I'm going to need my hands free as I drive. This is just a question as for future reference to eventually make it a nice track car or even a weekend racer later on the road if/when I purchase another car.
So basically I would need $10k including a tranny ecu clutch pedal shifter gauge pod
PS all this would be a DIY project (I take pride in installing all my mods myself) so no installation costs I have a friend with a garage that has all the necessary tools unless I need something other than impact tools and man hours

Now we're talking.

Anything is possible to do, though not exactly feasible in this case. Either get the extra fun through the use of Hondata to hold you over until you get a new car or trade out of it into a 6MT (lose your ass in value) and then reflash that one.

Anyone else think I'm plugging Hondata? Though not as much as someone else in this thread. It's awesome.
