AT or MT?
Nicky,
Girl to girl here . . .
This is the best MT out there. My husband just totaled his 2002 RSX-S which had a great
MT. This is even better! For this car, go MT. FYI, I drive 2004 TL AT . . . IMO MT did
not make it on the TL, but I love driving the MT TSX.

A Huge Deciding Factor Is That Manual Transmissions Tend To Last Longer (providing Clutch May Need To Be Replaced At Some Point) And That They Can Also Be Overhauled Or Repaired. In Contrast To An At, Once It Starts To Fail Replacement Is Imminent.
And Yes Most Importantly Mt Is Alot More Fun, Makes The Ride Be Worth The Drive!!!

I learned on a stick shift mini-van with a clutch from hell. Once you get used to it, it's second nature as others have said before. I've owned my TSX for one year. The longer I drive it, the more fun it is. It still feels like I just drove it off the lot and think MT would be even more fun.
I'm getting old, about to have a family, working on the pot belly, and I live in Northern Virginia. I'm a lazy sack, so I drive AT but I idolize the guys on this forum that drive MT.

nicky is a guy
I thought maybe my sales guy would help out so I sent him this email:
His response was:
I guess I was optimistic requesting human emotion from a car salesman.. Forget his bad grammar even..
Reading this board sure shouts 6MT, but I'm afraid it's like coming here asking whether I should buy an Acura or a Ford.. Not that I'd ever expect someone here to recommend a Ford, but it seems like this bunch is the "hardcore" group similar to Nintendo gamers or Mac users that would accept nothing less than an automatic.. I'm not sure if I'm one of those people, I like to think that I could become one..
Bottom line: My heart says manual, my brain says automatic..

Well, I'm still gathering feedback on the transmission so I figure I might as well ask the guy selling the car since you'll have to get the car delivered either way and there is no price difference.
I learned to drive on a manual transmission and used it for about a year before I inherited the automatic I've been driving ever since (about 9 years). I have a 5 minute daily commute to work (no traffic), spend most of my daily driving suburbia and highways within 20-40 miles of my house. My initial thinking was that I'd enjoy a six speed since the TSX is a "sport sedan" but my sensible side (which admittedly prevails in most situations) tells me to just take the auto to avoid having to teach my girlfriend how to drive and eliminate the possibility of losing interest in shifting gears.

the decision is your's only.........Call me with you want me to sell you this car.

Nintendo?!?!? What's dat? It's PS2, PSP... PS3 on and on man!!
Actually quite many users here do have the 5AT... maybe just coz us 6MT guys shout louder

but AZ users probably represent a pretty small % of the entire Acura owners population.

I don't know where you got the idea that car sales people give a fart about your emotions. They'll smile, say hello and ask you how you are. But after that point, you are just a walking dollar sign.
Ahh, I guess I'll never know what's right for me until it's too late, or I've made the right decision.. Which means to my right brain, "get the automatic" and you won't know what you're missing (if anything) in the manual tranny..

Damn... you keep this up,
and :troutslap are what you'll get
Do yourself a favour and buy one of each
If you are lucky, try that very sensitive sales guy and see if he could hook you up with say 1 week loaner of a 6MT then a 5AT, so you can base your decision with actual first-hand impression

I'd prefer cooler looking ones for the back small windows. Or even better, plate frames

I had to drive an hour to test drive a manual, so getting this guy to give me a loaner for a week is impossible..
I think I'll sit on the decision for a bit more and let my head think about things.. One day it's 6MT, the next it's 5AT..

If your daily commute is 5 min with no traffic, and your girlfriend is not demanding that you buy an AT, get the MT.
I bought an AT because my commute is 25 min with some traffic, but most of all because my wife always hated driving standard on our last car (Accord coupe), she really wanted an auto this time.
I may have picked a standard if I was in your position, but having said that, I don't regret getting the AT, I have yet to drive a better sportshift, it's fast shifting in SS mode and smooth in auto mode, and I actually like being able to put it in auto mode in stop and go traffic. Especially since it lets you do other things with your hand like reach for your PDA or cell phone (not that you should be making calls while in the car, but still).
my frds are all asking me why i am not getting a MT....
but mine is a 02TL, which doesn't have MT....-_-''''
AT has a much beter resale value than the MT, but MT is more fun thou, esp in TSX '
for TL i will stick with AT coz it has enough power
