AT or MT?
AT or MT?
Convince me to go AT or MT? That's pretty much the only dilemma I have right now. I would go with the MT if it was $800 cheaper like usual. But that isn't the case with the TSX
Thanks!

I think you want an MT but can't find one based on your lost post

If you want an MT wait for one.

Thanks for the input. About the rattles, were most Acura owners, that suffered from them, able to get rid of them?

First a question... Can you drive a MT? (not slamming you... I had a friend who bought one, but couldn't drive a stick.. and proceeded to trash the tranny in less than 1 year.. Thank god he learned his lesson, and now only buys automatics.)
if you can, next question.. what is drive like.. lots of stop & go.. or pretty much highway..
if Stop & Go.. go AT..
Highway- MT all the way!

Thanks for the input everyone...
Yea, I've been driving a 5spd 95 Accord for about 6 months now... so far so good
For those that have driven the RSX-s or 05 Accord 5spd can you compare the clutch/shifter with the TSX for me? (I've tested the 05 RSXs & 05 Accord Coupe EX 5spd)

Ok well this is obviously something you have to decide and you alone. I knew it was irrational for me to get a 6MT considering I live outside DC and have to commute to work in NoVA traffic, prolly some of the worse in the country.
BUT the 6MT is too much more fun for me. But thats me, and no matter what anyone here says you are gonna have to make the decision yourself because you are gonna be the one driving it, not us...
but... MT IS GOD!!!

Shifting gears is 2nd nature once your use to it.
Yeah, i would have gotten the MT if i didn't have to sit in traffic almost every day
I traded in my PRELUDE SH (MT) for the TSX AT because of the traffic
Traffic has ruined my fun, however, the AT is still pretty awesome with sport shift mode.

Because you are young and an inexperienced driver, get the AT. I'm the same age as you and know that at times, I don't pay attention to my driving. If you get the MT, you will be concentrating on shifting all the time instead of your driving. Also, if you parents are letting you have the navi (lucky!), there will be enough distraction from that, nevermind the distraction from shifting. I would get the AT and then when you get older and more experienced on the road, go out and buy yourself a MT car. You'll be much happier, I think.
Good Luck and enjoy (once you get your TSX)

Let's put this question to rest F-O-R-E-V-E-R. I'm an AT owner but if I'd do it again, I'd get the manual. Real men drive MT, pussies like me drive AT. I've always driven manual before my TSX. I learned on a stick shift mini-van with a clutch from hell. Once you get used to it, it's second nature as others have said before. I've owned my TSX for one year. The longer I drive it, the more fun it is. It still feels like I just drove it off the lot and think MT would be even more fun.
I'm getting old, about to have a family, working on the pot belly, and I live in Northern Virginia. I'm a lazy sack, so I drive AT but I idolize the guys on this forum that drive MT.

The dealer where I go service my car lent me a Protegé the other day... AT. Yes it had some sort of +/- shifting but driving an auto makes me fall asleep and less aware of my driving. I always thought that maybe when I retire... we'll see

MT
If all you want to do is use the gas pedal and brake and turn the steering wheel at the appropriate time then go ahead and get AT.
Get the MT to get the most out of your driving experience. You become more a part of the car.
IMO the sports shift mode of the AT still doesn't give you a feel for whats really happening with the car. It's still too isolated.
Another plus with the MT - If your wife or girlfriend can't drive stick shift then you don't ever have to worry about them driving your car.

Trade-off between fun and practicality. Young blades, purists, thrill-seekers, and even most reasonable people understand that the manual is ideally suited to this type of ride. But if you are north of forty, have a heavy duty urban commute, or drive up and down ten story garages much, and have found other, almost as stimulating ways to have fun, it's a no brainer: AT (and let's face it --the SS is just a nice novelty touch I'd bet most of us never do).

MT all the way. after getting my suv (auto) i drove my MT car again 1st time in 3 months. all i can say is "damn it" I want to get rid of my AT suv so bad it's not even funny.
once you go MT, you can't go back. I do everything in my car too, phone, holding hands, picking my booger, coffee, you name it. note: i never got into an accident for 7 years of driving either. MT is just so much fun and it gives you control of your car like no other.

I chose Automatic because I didn't want a new car as my first Manual car. I have enjoyed the fun of a manual before thru my friend's used cars, but maybe in the future I'll be able to pick up a manual beater that I can get accustomed to stick shifting with and then purchase my next car to be a manual.

at you
