Back in December 03 I paid $27,350 OTD (MSRP $26990). Since the 05 model will be coming in the next few months getting MSRP OTD is probably doable on the 04l (more likely in a low sales tax state).

I can't quote the exact figures I got, but I sure didn't pay over sticker. My dealer (McDaniels in Charleston, SC) had tacked on a $400 (I think) dollar charge for paint treatment, etc. that I told them I wouldn't pay for. They removed that from the price, so I was back to MSRP. They then gave me a surprisingly good trade in on a 96 BMW 318ti with 135K miles - about $1000 over normal trade-in for one with such high mileage. They also gave me a really good (3.45%) rate of a 60 month note. I can't complain at all about the price. I ran through the figures and they weren't pulling any tricks. So far I think very highly of them.

Is there a difference between the 04 and 05?

I don't mind a 04 if they didn't change much....

I guess a few hundred bucks over msrp is ok....but right now they want more than 1000 over msrp OTD

No way! You should be able to get at least $1K off MSRP, plus taxes. I've read of $2K off.

I got $1K off + all weather package at no cost back in July. If they don't want to negotiate, go to another dealer.

05 should be the same vehicle, higher cost due to high sales, and a few less bugs. Maybe a new color option.

MSRP for a TSX? or more? you are being taken advantage of. I read about many people getting invoice pricing for a TSX. So you have to be able to do better than MSRP.

My lowest quote in Houston was $25,191 through a leasing company here in Houston Texas.

Car coming from the same Acura dealer that quoted me $26,035.

It sounds like some people might be confused about the difference between MSRP and invoice... MSRP is the sticker price and invoice is what the dealer pays the factory for the car (before holdback is considered). Holdback on Acuras is 2%, so it really costs the dealer 2% less than invoice to buy the car from the factory.

Don't pay anything more than 5% over actual dealer cost, that is a more than fair profit for them.

It's pretty simple. The TSX is 50-state compliant for emissions so it works the same way as if you were using your local dealer. There a are a myriad of ways to get the car to you. I've got an NSX headed out to LA in a few days. Call me at 719-651-6007 and let's see if we can't get it all wrapped up for you. Best Regards, Erik Stone Pikes Peak Acura

Reading back a few posts.....it seems to me there is confusion on the term "out the door (OTD) price". Some people use it as the final negotiated price including dealer add-ons (doc prep, paint protection wheel protection, etc) while others use it to mean the final negotiated price including dealer add-ons, TAX,title and registration fees. If you use the second definition then an OTD price EQUAL to MSRP would require a good size discount on the selling price of the car to make up for the additional charges for tax, title and registration. That would be a good deal. Best of luck. Oh, by the way, never pay MSRP for a car. You can usually get it for less with simple negotiations. If not, walk away and go to another dealer more willing to meet your needs. They never sell cars that they don't make money on.

WHAT???? Why did you let them charge you so much? I hope you got at least a full under body kit plus fogs for that. Or, I hope you're including fees and tax... sigh...

weir canyon acura

the prices in socal are pretty stiff....this is the lowest I found and I've been to 6 dealers =(

I was gonan buy a TL but they were only giving 600 off...and honestly i'm not too enthusiastic about paying 8000 more for a car tha'ts only worth 6000 more so i'm now a TSX'er.

yeah...i told them absolutely NO additional parts should be added to my car.

I drove the tsx to Las Vegas and I just wished it had a better sound when I'm on the gas and maybe a bit more torque =)

even though i live in LA, it really doesn't matter where you live; it's all about negotiating and sticking to your guns (as long as you're reasonable and have done your homework). research your stuff (like invoice price) and be confident with your offer to the dealer; remember, you can remind them that there's ALWAYS another dealership willing to make an easy sell to a ready buyer. *note: try to skip the middleman
although my car doesn't have the navi, i knocked off over a $1000 from the MSRP and i easily could have received the same deal for one with a navi.

good point...I was going to buy a TL but they really wasn't dealing at all..they were willing to see me walk out than to make money on the spot so I bought a TSX from a dealer that really wanted to make money....here is what i don't understand..

i'm at your dealership with my check book open...i'm going to buy a car...u either sell it to me and make money or you don't....so why do you let a serious buyer walk away? I was only asking 1500 off on the TL with navi/auto...not like I wanted it for 25000....they sure got me beat.

They might do that if they only get so many TL's in a certain amount of time and they know they can refuse your offer and sell the same car to someone else and make more money.

Hello all, I'm new to the board.

I was as the dealer tonight for the first time looking at a TSX. The salesman said Acura doesn't provide any promotions or incentives because "they're the luxury line of Honda". It sounded like a load of BS to me. Is this true?

hmm..i don't know for sure but promotion/incentive are usually used to help selling a car....it doesn't matter how luxo it is...if it isn't selling...i'd give dealers incentives so they have a bigger margin of profit and hence a lower price for the customer.

Just negotiate the best u can...most ppl here got the car for around 30,000 out the door with navi

the words incentive or promotion shouldn't be used simply because technically there are none for TSXs or TLs (that I've seen anyhow). it is usual for dealers to discount cars that aren't selling. with the TLs and especially the TSXs, dealerships aren't really offering discounts because for the most part they are selling and Acura also wants customers to believe that.
the truth is, the salesperson needs to make a commission and the dealership needs to make a certain amount (or margin) per car. the best approach is to see a sales or fleet manager knowing the invoice price and trying to meet somewhere inbetween. you'll end up paying less than MSRP and more than invoice. and in the end, you'll be a happy TL owner like my brother, or a happy TSX owner like me.

I am interested in buying a TSX, thing it would be possible to get a navi, mp3 deck, and protection package for about 30k or cheaper out the door? Any ideas if the 05 models will have any big changes? The dealer told me that there wouldn't be any big changes on the 04 MDX when i got my 03, but they changed the back lights!! Hope they don't do this to me again! Thanks for the help.

I guess I can answer my own question for others out there, I got quoted 29941 out the door (including taxes and documents), for a AT TSX w/NAVI, mp3 deck and protection pack. Sounds like a good deal to me, or do you think I can ask for more? What does the protection package come with?

that's a pretty good deal actually, because taxes and fees add quite a bit to the final price (i'm assuming about 2k-2.5 for that), which leaves about 27.5k for the car. not bad at all for a Navi with an mp3 deck with a leather interior i'm assuming. i paid a little under 26k and that's without a navi or an mp3 deck. i'm not sure what the protection package comes with though.

as for changes to the '05, i haven't heard of any design changes. i don't see the car going through any major changes since it hasn't been around long enough. there may be a couple of added features/options though, so i guess that's a good thing. good luck on your decision, hope to hear there's a new tsx in your driveway!

I purchased my non-navi 6MT TSX in May. Dealer offered to sell it for $26K. Got it talked down to $25800. Add the tax on $1500. Gives a total of $27300. Basically MSRP out the door.

Actually its from Niello's in sacramento, but I'm asking Oakland to beat it. I think they should be able to beat it without too much hassle, have done business with them before and have enjoyed it.
