the mod bug

hey guys, i just picked up my arctic blue tsx last week and its awesome. Of course, time to start with the mods. Tints are being taken care of, about to order my m3 lip spoiler, my next topic of intrest was an intake and im kind of lost. I see people talking about AEM intakes? Or Injen? can someone be kind of enough to explain a little more in detail about these .. which is good.. etc? It would be greatly appreciated.. Thanks

AEM only makes a short ram for now. Injen CAI has been getting good reviews. The Comptech Icebox has minimal gains - I was disappointed to hear this. Maybe AEM will come out with a V2 or a CAI later on. Have also read Hondata heat gasket is a 'must' for this car to enjoy the gains of an intake. For now, mine is stock with a K&N drop-in filter.

TSX'ers prefer Injec CAI.

The K&N Typhoon CAI also looks good. I'm in a group buy for the Injen but the K&N is just as good maybe 1-2hp less. Both intakes can be converted to SRI if you want.

It's the Injen RD. I haven't seen it listed on their website yet but it's essentially the same as all the other RD kits.
For K&N, here's their link: http://www.knfilterchargers.com/sear...Prod=69-0025TR

If you want to buy either one, I recommend this link: http://www.acura-tsx.com/forums/show...&threadid=8202

K&N comes in red Also has a drycharger, a bag that fits over the filter to keep out droplets of water. The usefulness is unknown, but its good for peace of mind.

Under normal driving you won't notice anything different than stock but there is a much deeper note when you step on it.

you don't need a heat shield with a CAI

The heat gasket is different than a heat shield for the intake. Unfortunately, Hondata calls their gasket "heatshield" which is a bit confoozling. The gasket goes between the intake and the head, not over the filter.

See here for info on heat gaskets:
