Exclamation Mid-Ohio TSX Meet - May 20-21

Okay, last year we had a couple of TSXs out at Mid-Ohio. I know there are lots more TSXs near/around Mid-Ohio race course.

http://www.midohio.com/track/directions.asp

I will only be there on May 21 along with MrChad and 00Prelude00 to support RTR for another good race.

Tickets are $32 until 5/16, so order them Will Call if you aren't sure.

Attendees:
1. moda_way
2. MrChad
3. 00Prelude00

WTF!!!!

00Prelude00 is coming? Hell hath frozen over!!!!

I'll be there but I won't have a ride, I'm flying in the night before from Chi-town. I'll be at the track with my dad's F350 Diesel woo hoo!!

If you go use Gate 6 off of trextor road, it's so much easier. Get your tickets in the mail or will call and use this gate. Trust me, I do this a lot. It's usually not open on the race days but for bigger venues like ALMS it will be in most cases.

I think it was contingent on your b-day gift.

Let's see I'll have a 24-70L/70-200 f2.8L Combo and 00Prelude00 will likely bring a 28-70L/70-200 f2.8L combo and we both will be shooting 300D bodies. I'll think we can muster a shot or two.

Too bad, you're setup was wicked last year as well.

That would be awesome. Definitely follow MrChad's suggestion and park using Gate 6. It is a shaded area and very few ppl park there. If you need more details let me know.

Would be great to see you both there. You'll be able to check out the "fart cans" (MrChad has nicknamed my exhaust that). Evidently he doesn't like Comptech header, RT Cat nor the Comptech exhaust.

EDIT:
My tickets are at the Will Call window now for May 21. So I'm 100% committed to going.

bump for any one interested in showing. See the race in person is an incredible experience if you are local enough. I'm driving 2 hrs myself because it is just worth it.

Oh shoot, I really want to make it out for this event.

School is over for me this week and I'm graduating on the 14th if all goes well I'll definately try to make it out there by the 20th, though I'll probably only go for a Saturday. I'll be sure to take a crap load of pictures if I did go. Now to buy a telephoto lens and take some sweet pictures before I sell my D50 =P

Sun is the TC and ALMS race, that's the day to go if you can. With a digital (1.6x) body I've had results with a 100mm lens just fine. You can get close enough with that.

Awesome. I plan for all of us locals to meet up at Kings Mills Rd, near Kings Island, but I think it makes more sense for us to meet with you off I-70 if I'm correct.

Don't you mean I-71, I-70 would be in Columbus? Don't you take 71 straight north, I sure as heck take it straight south off of rt 30

Also perhaps someone (Moda_Way) could be a PM contact for a few cell numbers in case folks want to find some of us?

I will be taking I-70E to I-270N to I-71N. Takes me like an hour to get to Columbus. We can meet anywhere around there if you want.

Fairly well. I mostly know Easton pretty good by the airport and I am really familiar with the Tuttle Crossing exit on the west side off of I-270. Give me a place to meet and we'll meet up!

I use to shoot 77S to 70E straight to 71S going to school in Cincy back in the day, I would always stop at the Schlotski's deli at the Pickerington? exit on 70, Yum.

Is there a more specific schedule as to what happens when aside from days? I'm relatively close to there and may think about going Sunday. What time do things generally start/finish? When is the touring car race? Or is it all somewhat fluid? Any general guidelines or links to more info than I found on midohio.com?

ALMS races at 12-2:45pm on Sunday
Speed TC races at 3:15pm on Sunday

I would recommend being there by 10 am.

Which is a couple of exits north of you?

I'm going to suggest to the group doing the caravan up to meet at Kings Mills by 8am. I drive pretty quickly and can make Mid-ohio by 9:30am and by the time we do Will Call ticket pickup and get over to Gate 6, get parking, etc, it will be 10:30ish. That gives us time to hang out, do the lunch thing and then make our way over to watch the ALMS race.

PixelHarmony and scheißterhöffer, PM me with your mobile number and I'll PM you back mine. I already have MrChad's and CKcentral's mobile. This way I can call those if we miss each other at the track. Gate 6's access road is easy to miss, but Gates 1-3 are very easy to find.

That's funny because I almost wrote that yesterday. I can be in Columbus within an hour or so (yes, that's flying a bit). We've decided to leave Cincy around 7am now to get an eariler start. So let's meet up at a restaurant of the main drag in Polaris around 8am. You pick the place.

Okay we will meet up at this place called First Watch. I just called and they open at 7am Sunday morning. I heard they had pretty good breakfast since there is one right down the street from where I work. I was figuring we could grab a bite before we left.

Address:
Polaris Neighborhood Center
2103 Polaris Pkwy.
Columbus, OH 43240
614-846-2738

Menu

Edit: I'm not sure if that exit is still closed due to construction.

Question is, were you smart enough to remember our Zaino?

Yeah, we'll be fine as far as time.

Bumping just to let those interested know, a couple of us are meeting on Kings Mills Rd in Mason OH at the BP next to the highway at 7am. Our next stop will be Polaris Rd North of Columbus at around 8am to have CKcentral join the caravan. We may stop to eat something at First Watch. Should be at Mid-Ohio around 10am. See you all there.
