Metal dash kit
Metal dash kit
HI all,
So, I'm going to buy the OEM metal dash kit for my new TSX. Question - how hard is it to install? I'm thinking about going it alone but I obviously don't want to botch the job. Any comments about how difficult it is to do on your own?

But we still purchase them because of personal taste and add a personal touch and uniqueness to our whips.
Just make sure the surface is completely free of any dirt or oil before placing the metal trim kit on.

I didn't do all of that though. I just cleaned up dust and put pieces on
I'm sure you shouldn't have problem with installing the kit. It looks really nice at night with the blue light from the top

I'm thinking of purchasing the metal trim kit as well, but only applying the door handle pieces which wrap around the window and door lock controls. The silver down the center console is a bit too much for me and I can imagine there be glare issues during the day. Plus, the fact that the trim doesn't wrap around the top portion of the shifter (for auto and manual) and just leaves it black, as shown in the pic above, really bugs me.
Nobody's answered captnroger's question: They are all just simple stick-on pieces.
I saw a TSX with the OEM trim installed...and when looking at it up close =
Lots of rough edges and flash. You can still see the original surfaces underneath at some edges, and the huge gaps needed for the moving doors are really accentuated by the light, silver color. Plus, for the pieces that fit over the window switches...they wind up making your switches sit deep down below the surface, it just seemed almost like I had to reach down to them - maybe not so bad for the window switches, but pretty awkward for the door lock buttons and also the seat heater buttons.

I purchased my car with the trim kit and I don't have any problems with glare or poor installation. The OEM does not look like a "add on" like some of the other non-OEM kits I've seen on the forum. The kit IMO look pretty good with the quartz interior and dark floor mats.
I guess that is why it is an option instead of standard equipment.

Wow TSX interior looks pretty tight. No one around here drives a tsx, mostly accords and camery's. From a TL owner... looks good the metal kit looks good toooo. Keep up the good work!!
is this metal trim kit only the center console/compartments? In my CGP, i have the metal trim on the doors that wraps around to the steering wheel and glove compartment. Is that standard or did mine come with it extra?

Check out the above thread to find out if there are any 6MT or 5AT left or when the next group buys will be.
I'd look at Ultimate Pedals instead. Lots of options there - shapes, finishes, patterns, etc. If you have an MT, definitely get the heel/toe extension for the gas pedal. See pics here...

Reasons I went w/ UP vs SuperComputer's pedals... SC's have those rubber nubs which will wear down over time, I didn't like the look of all those logos, and I've read that the pad that the nubs are on won't even fit properly between the original pedals and the SC cover pedals, unless you fill in the gaps between them (otherwise, the nubs will push in when you step on them).
