Manual bonus??
Manual bonus??
I know with the TL, the manual gets the brembo braked and rear limited slip differential to make up for them both being the same price. So when you get the TSX in manual, is there any bonus for it also being the same price wheter you get the manual or auto?? Sorry if this question is a duplicate.

The only justification I can think of for paying the same is the magnesium encased 6MT tranny. Helps keep weight down and balance the car, and is more expensive than a normal MT tranny. But does it cost Acura as much to produce as a 5AT? I have no clue but I would guess

The TL with a limited slip rear end? That would be a lot of dead weight since no power is sent south.
As I was reading in the owners manual for the TSX the other day I noticed a little tid bit about a LSD. In the section on using the space saver spare it says not to use it much at all on the 6spd cars on the front because of damage of the LSD. I have never heard anything about a LSD in the car from Acura, Magazines ect. Has anyone else seen this? I should walk out to the car and give you a direct quote but I am to lazy at this point in the day.

"On models with manual transmission, do not drive for a long period with the compact spare tire mounted on the front wheel; it will damage the limited slip differential."

Huh. Well, that's either quite a hidden feature of the TSX, or quite the "cut'n'paste" error on Acura's part (from TL to TSX manual).
I guess we'll need some independent confirmation. My guess is that we do not have LSD, despite the manual's insistence that we do. I felt the LSD in the TL, and I've never felt the same feeling in the TSX.
Is it time to start a new rumor? I wonder what other hardware "easter eggs" the TSX has?!

People have added LSD to their TSX's? No kidding! I guess I'll have to search on that one. Considering the handling/torque ratio is nearly ideal on the TSX, I'm kind of (academically) surprised that it helps.

It's still pretty easy to spin the inside tire when exiting a corner. That's why an LSD is nice to have.
Here's one thread on the subject: https://acurazine.com/forums/showthread.php?t=8536
Thanks for the link. Interesting stuff. I'm not sure if I'd trade off the added torque steer for the added stickiness in the curves. One of the primary reasons I went TSX over TL was the torque steer. It was a very unnerving feeling.

I based it on two things: 1) I actually thought the LSD would be in there, manual transaxles are easier to locate/place a LSD than an auto, 2) The TL transaxle has it and I thought the TSX might follow in its footsteps.
I did the generic test of lifting one front wheel and seeing if it turns, and it did, which indicates open differential.
