making a Trip for thanksgiving

i guess number of a-zine members here will be making a trip on thanksgiving by wheel, and i just have a general question.

my pwp 06 has now 4200miles on it
0~2500 city driving (NJ/NY, no highway AT ALL)
2500~3300 ONLY highway driving (NJ to Michigan, school)
3300~4200 (Campus driving/city driving)

i had done one oil change, tire pressure check and so on...about 3 weeks ago at the dealer
the car is still a baby, although break-in period has been completed a while ago.
i hate this but i am driving back home for thanksgiving, the total roundtrip will be ~1300 miles ...simply on I-80 ^^ ;;

ppl tell me to put octane during the trip, performs better and etc.... yea it does but it has nothing to do with taking care of my engine well on those long trips.

it's my first car, and i just want to well-take care of my engine...
i remember stopping every 100~130 miles when i made a trip here in Michigan from NJ.
any comments, advises from the experienced drivers?
thanks.

Be sure to double check tire pressures again and fluids before your trip.

i'm not sure i understand your concerns? you're taking a 1300 mile roundtrip, so 650 each way? you had an oil change already so you're good there. just do the standard check of fluids. i don't know why you would need octane booster (i'm assuming this is what you meant?). just put 91 in it and hit the road! have fun on I-80, i only need to take it to PA!

Thank you

Dude, its a car. I know you love it, we all love our cars but as long as the simple stuff is taken care of, hit the road and have some fun with your TSX. I wish I could take a long road trip in mine!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Like the others said Go for it...I put on 7000 highway miles in just over 5 weeks when my car was new and have had zero problems. (Except squeaky seat and crappy grill chrome)

Check your tire pressure before you're about to go (after it's been loaded with your luggage). Tire pressure should be within spec when on a trip, so you want to make sure that your stuff will increase the tire pressure. Check fluids (oil, coolant, brake, windshield washer fluid, and maybe power steering. Take a break once every other hour or so to give yourself a break, as well as let your car relax a bit. (I never take breaks, so it's not necessary...but I think it's better than keeping your tires hot for hours)

Be sure to bring anything you think you might need. A quart of oil, glass cleaner/squeegee, tire pump, jump start, coolant/water, etc. A new car won't have problems, but you never know...

Oh, and make sure you bring your mp3 player or a bunch of CD's. Don't use any sleepy/slow songs, but be sure you don't speed along with the fast songs
