Maintenance Required Indicator Interval

Please limit responses to three, or four, replies.

Does the Maintenance Required Indicator always use a 10,000 mile interval, as indicated on Page 22-229 of the Service Manual, or can it be set to a specified interval?

It's not configurable by the owner but your dealer might be able to set it with their diagnostics machine (sorry I forget what they call it).

I guess he doesn't want his threads to be whored.

To answer the question, the Maintenance light primarily goes on when the oil level is low, or that's what the dealer told me.

And this makes six. With that kind of a disclaimer, he's just asking to have his thread whored...

But to answer the question, see what Dan Martin wrote, above. Otherwise, the indicator is set to light up with the factory maintenance intervals.

I had mine come on at 10,000, and last week at 20,000. I did the reset described in the manual both times.

Is anybody else experiencing the same thing?

I hope you are also doing the maintenance described in the manual and not just resetting the maintenance reminder light.

Well, I see that typing "Please limit responses to three, or four, replies." was a mistake.

---------------------------------
In regard to the Maintenance Required Indicator, the Service Manual (P. 22-229) provides:

From 7,900 to 8,100 miles -- Blinks for 10 seconds when the ignition switch is turned ON.
From 9,00 to 10,000 miles -- Comes on and stays on while the ignition switch is ON.

7,900 miles = 12,640 km
8,100 miles = 12,960 km

9,900 miles = 15,840 km
10,100 miles = 16,160 km
----------------------------------

It seems logical that if you were in the "Severe" category, you would want the Maintenance Required Indicator to activate at 5,000 miles rather than 10,00 miles. And, if you were about 50-50, you might want a 7,500 mile interval.

Yes I did. I just didn't bring it to the dealer to have it serviced, but to my regular mechanic who has been fixing my previous car for a long time.

I just wasn't aware that the maintenance interval light came on every 10K miles - I thought it was just the first 10K.
