Looking at leftover 08's

I’ve decided to try to get a leftover 08 TSX if I can get it for less than invoice. So far in PA I can only locate an auto with navigation in carbon grey. While I really don’t care for navigation, if I can get it for 1000 under invoice I would be willing to buy it. I offered them a price which was 1k less than their asking price ~ 800 under invoice and they aren’t budging below invoice. I left it at “If you decide you want to sell it to me for that price you have a sale”. Should I follow up in a week or should I cut my losses and try somewhere else? One other dealer in NJ has yet to reply to me but hopefully they will get back to me in the next day or so.

Since the 09’s aren’t going to hit near invoice until the end of the year if that, my only other choice would be to get a Sonata. While the Sonata is in a different league than the TSX, that was the only other car that I had no complaints about while driving. I had a few Sonatas as rentals and couldn't find one thing I didn't like with them. My sister owns a 08 Accord and I absolutely hate driving it each time I get in it. The last Accord that I liked was the 6th Gen. Forget about the Civic also, the two tier dash is not for me.

By your signature, it looks like you should follow the example set by your family and get an Accord

I really don't like the new Accord. It's too big for me, espcially coming from my Integra. Even the Sonata is big but 5 inches shorter than the Accord.

Thumbs up

Yeah, Sonatas are nice sedans.

And this is Sonata's switchblade key! PRetty nice IMO

I personally would not get the 09 TSX even if it was near the price of the 04-08 TSX.

Npolite - Around here (Bay Area) new non-nav auto '08 TSXs are being advertised by a few dealers at ~$25,500+TTL, and I'm guessing that negotiating to under $25,000 is possible. I'm really surprised you can't find a similar deal around there... Z.

I was able to get a new 2008 w/ Navi for $26,200 +TTL about 3 weeks ago. I think you should shoot for that price if dealers around you still have some lying around. Could be that I got such a good price because I had just totalled my 2006 TSX and I went to the same salesperson (sympathy factor).

Yeah I just don't get it, they can have an easy sale and get rid of their old inventory and instead still want to make a killing.

Ha just got another quote 27,307 from one dealer. These people are out of their minds. I quoted back 26,250., if not their loss.

keep looking-there are alot of acura dealers around. I also prefer my 06 6MT tsx over my mom's 08 honda accord v-6. She previously owned a 98 accord v-6 with 75,000 miles. She gave it to my daughter when she bought the new one. I live in NC and bought my tsx in Pa (alot better price)

According to Precision Acura's website, they have 2 2008s left.....one with navi, one without. Have you tried contacting them? www.precisionacura.com

I know it's nowhere close to PA, but I just checked 2008 TSX's at Jay Wolfe Acura and Superior Acura, both in the Kansas City area. According to the websites, Wolfe has 11, and Superior has 17. Roadtrip!?

Haha thank for the information, but I'm not going to travel the world for the one I want. If I don't find it oh well, then it's time to move onto something else and revist Honda/Acura in 5 years.

The two places I seriously shopped at still have a few, Davis Acura and Montgomeryville Acura(where I bought my 08 from), both in the northern suburbs of Philly.

Where in PA? It's a big state!

Maybe tell them you don't want navi, and see what kind of a deal they can give you on navi? They really must want to get rid of these 08's by now...

I totally overpaid for my PWP/Ebony/6spd, $26.5k+ttl I believe, plus I got screwed on financing (2.9% for 60 months, I think Acura lowered it to 0.9% 10 days later blah).

BUT at least I got the color I wanted lol. Supposedly there were only 3 of these on the east coast back in late February.

I live in Drexel Hill, PA so I'm familiar with both of these dealerships. I emailed my friend's buddy at Davis and I'm still waiting for a response. I'll also ping Montgomeryville.

So far the best I have received was 26,760 with Nav and 25,460 without.. Hopefully I can find one without Nav.

Hey, if a dealer is selling me a brand new 08' TSX with navi for 25.5k should i jump on it? I was originally thinking about buying used since a 2007 is like 21-22k and the otd will be around 24-25k. Is it worth the extra 4k to buy new? That seems alot for 1 year of depreciation too.

Talk to Leon at Montgomeryville, he was pretty willing to deal with me, although I don't think they have any non-navi's left. Doesn't hurt to make a phone call though They were a pretty large volume dealership, MUCH larger than Davis(who let me walk out and buy from Montgomeryville over their mandatory protection package on all the cars on their lot, a $300 non-option)

If you want to go into NJ as well, there are probably close to 10 dealerships within an hour's drive, just naming them off the top of my head:
Ardmore, West Chester(Scott?) Acura, one in Philly near the airport, Jenkintown Acura, Montgomeryville Acura, Davis Acura, Precision Acura(Princeton NJ), Turnersville Acura, Elite Acura(Maple Shade NJ),

If I could get a Navi for 25.5 I would be all over it. I only found one Acura dealer that had the Carbon Grey and Grey interior but that has Navigation and they want 27,306. I'll try to get them down to 26.5 but I doubt they are going to drop it. West Chester Acura refused to sell me the one with navigation for 26,200.

I'm awaiting Ardmore Acura to see what they come back with. Turnersville Acura wouldn't budge past invoice.

physicscx2, where did you get that quote from? Heck I would take it for 26.5 if a dealer would sell it to me for that price.

Ok I just got a quote from Ardmore Acura, Ardmore PA...mind you, we have an account with them as well for parts since my dad has as garage and get this a demo 08 TSX with 4k miles and they want 27,385! I told him I can get one without the color that I want for that price...Jesus I guess most of the Acura dealers around here aren't budging. This one dealership offered me the color combination with Nav for 27,300 brand new. I sent her an email asking her to drop it to 26.5. If she doesn't offer it for that price, I fear that I won't be getting a TSX

I'm still waiting for her to reply back. It's been only a few hrs. But I can't help but think that is some are getting it for 26k or less why I should pay 27k for it.

Probably some paid 26K or less but some paid more. You could wait and hopefully find a dealer but the pickins are getting slimmer. When I bought my 06 6MT tsx in November 06 the dealer did a dealer trade to get the color combo I wanted. Find out what extras you can get-life free oil changes, all-season mats, trunk tray, etc. I love my tsx-no regrets buying it-I might have found it for a lower price but too late for that. It has almost 54,000 trouble-free miles. Have slowed down on my driving lately.

Ok that's around the price range i'm getting on mine. Thanks for the feedback. Just waiting for her to respond. I guess she may be off today so will hope for a reply tomorrow.

One other thing for the owners who have an 06-08, have you noticed any premature wear on the seats?

npolite...if you really wanted to you could get an 08 tsx navi auto for 26k plus ttl at acura of libertyville, joe rizza azura or acura of woodfield. i just realized that in illinois, if you buy via private party the tax is wayyyyy less.

Delurking for a moment to say that back in April I was looking into getting an 08 TSX with Navi and was quoted $26,800 from Turnersville Acura. This was before the 2009 came out, so I can't see them not budging, especially since they should be trying to clear their lots now.

^^ well I'm good for top tier, and just 10 days later they offered 0.9% for 48 months which would have worked out to be cheaper. Only reason I'm financing is so I can maximize profits from investing my available funds. Was doing real well, and though I'm still well into the green my profits have taken a dump now that the stock market's floundering...

Even if Metro Acura had the exact car I wanted, I will never set foot in that dealership. Back in 2003 I had them install a timing belt and drive belts on my 95 Integra. Well one day a year later I was changing my oil and noticed that the belt was worn and was going to snap. I took it back to the dealer and they not only said that they weren't going to change it, but it wasn't a Honda OEM belt! I'm guessing they never changed it in the first place. After that I never went back to them again. Who knows what shady things this dealer does? And if they did, shame on them for using some POS belt.

Did you show them the receipt showing that they changed the belts to begin with? I keep all my receipts and get the dealer to mark it in my maintenance book. I trust my dealer but they are 700 miles from where I live. I sometimes take it to the local acura dealer (they are good but Lehigh Valley acura is excellent).

I sure did and it states that they explosively changed them with Honda part numbers! I even got the district manager involved and he did absolutely nothing. So much from customer service from Metro and help from Honda. My cousin also had a Passat serviced there and she said she had absolutely terrible service every time she brought it in. She ended up trading it in for a Accord.

just an idea... find a place that has the exact color combo you want, go there on the last sales day of the month (don't e-mail ahead of time). Tell them you were in the area and stopped by to see if they had a certain color combo (that you know they don't have). Tell them you really want that color, but say "well, if I could get your in stock gray one for $XXX then I guess I could live with it". If they offer to dealer trade tell them you're only in town for the day and won't be coming back soon. If they say no start walking out. If it's meant to be, it will happen.

This is the way I bought mine back in '03. They were selling like hotcakes, $500 off sticker at most and I got it for $500 over invoice. Plus they gave me $1000 more for my trade than anywhere else. I really did want a gray one and ended up getting silver (my second choice), but they don't have to know that. The guy told me later that if they would have had the gray, they wouldn't have gone that low.

Don't give up. Just last week, I was helping a friend to find a '08 6MT NAV. I had one dealer offer it for 26.5 right away. Another wanted 26.9. We were able to get another to sell the car for 26K even. She picked up her car last weekend. Since she wanted the 6 speed we had to look at many dealer inventories online, but a dealer near my house also had one that were there for several weeks along with a few automatics. The salesman did try to pull the stuff about them moving quickly, but I let him know that the leftovers (particularly the 6 speed manual) weren't exactly flying off the lots. No harm done. It was a good experience and my friend is very happy with her TSX.
