Llumar Platinum Plus Tint - Will it effect Navi / Radar

What up guys,

I got a friend who is considering getting 18% Llumar Platinum Plus Tint on his car.

I have ceramic tint myself, and I believe that the Llumar Platinum Plus is a fully metalalized tint.

Does anyone know if this effects radar and/or navigation?
Does anyone here have the Llumar Platinum Plus on his car?

Thanks in advance for the responses!

Any metallic based tint will affect the Navi signal. To what extent depends on how strong the satellite signal is where you are located. There's been a few threads on this before. I recommend a search before anything else.

The LLumar brand has different types. I believe they have some high quality tints with no metal in them.

^^ Interesting Dabuda. Thankz for the post. Thatz the exact tint my friends gonna go with.

I got cermaic tint myself cuz I got a lot crap...Navi, TV antennas, Sirius, Valentine 1
I was scared to go with a metalized tint.

What your telling me is consistent with some other things I've heard about the LLumar Platinum Plus tint. I guess it just doesn't make sense to me, because that is definitely a metalized tint. Valentine1 themselves even warn about metalized tints.

I guess the Llumar Platinum plus is one of the exceptions. My friends gonna be happy to hear the great news!

Just remember, if there's metal in it, it should have some effect. Maybe it won't be noticable most of the time, but will probably decrease the range of everything slightly. Probably most noticeable when you had a weak signal before, maybe now you won't pick up something.

I don't know much about the Llumar, but maybe the amount of metal in it isn't as much as some others. All in all, I'm sure it's not a big deal.

It's a metal tint, but it's not "heavy metal."

It DOES have an impact, but may or may not be noticable in any specific situation and any specific area. And keep in mind that tints vary somewhat from batch to batch.

Unfortunately, the only way to know for sure is to try. And removing it once it's been installed is a major pain.

Best thing to do is to get a piece of the tint material and locate it on the rear deck over the antenna. Drive around for a bit and carefully monitor the impact.
