A little OUCH from a friend

Well, this weekend, I had my first damage to my TSX. My good buddy's wife was backing out in her 4Runner and just as she was going to see if she was clear of my TSX, this happened. I wasn't angry... I felt bad for her, afterall I've been friends with both her and her husband for at least 12 years.

Re: A little OUCH from a friend

I backed up my TSX into a wall at 5mph... cost me $2K to fix, including bumper replacement. Expect a similar bill.

Ouch ... I assume they are gonna settle with you to fix it? Good deal on not getting upset ... just get it fixed and things will be back to new. Biggest pain will be getting a pair of wheels while it is getting fixed.

Yeah, they're going to claim it. Funny thing is, my buddy and I work at the same place and our wives work at the same place. Going to be out of town for the next week, if we can get it fixed while I'm gone, no biggy. Otherwise, he can just pick me up in the mornings. We're cool like that.

Umm dude he just bent the fender, it will need a new fender and a paint job / match. Not cheap im sure but not $2000

that'll run you about 700 bucks, I ran into a big rig's wheel and did almost the exact same thing.

That's why I said similar. Ultimately, it will depend on the bodyshop. The place I left my car replaced the rear lights, and those didn't have a scratch on them. Some shop might want to replace his front light. That could bring the cost way up.

One place wanted to paint the entire left side of my car to have it "match" with the new rear bumper. Estimate was close to $3K... I was like, "yeah right".

Good luck to him in finding a good place to fix his TSX.

from the pics... it's hard to see the damage on your bumper. So i don't think you will need a new bumper. As for the fender, they can always bang it out but I would insist on a new fender (OEM spec of course).

As for color matching, it is an art and some science.

Here's a good parts list

link

I'm using it to figure out what I need and how much it should be compared to what the shop quotes me. 300 for a new bumper and 200 for a new fender.

guys, i know this thread is sorta old but i wonder if anyone can help.

my 2007 tsx was in the accident and the fender got messed up. i ordered the fender but it came in labeled year 04-on. I know that it is considered the first generation so, technically it should fit. However, there were some changes made in years 06-08.

can someone tell me if the fender was altered in anyway in the 06-08 tsx, that having this 04 fender on my 07 will make it look "cheap "? THANKS IN ADVANCE

It looks like the OEM part number for the front fender is the same on all 1st gen TSXs, so you should be set.
