his options:
S2K
silverstone w/ red/black interior

c230 sports sedan
black w/ charcoal, sunroof package, 6 cd in dash, manual, blue tint, 5 star wheels

both the exact same deal with the exact same money......he needs help ...the indecisive piece of crap with such a difficult damn decision!!!!!!!

??? compare C230 to s2k????? have you friend ever test drive it? I will pick a Civic over C230! if your friend need partical, then why not RSX typeS? or if he want german then at least get 325Ci(sure you can have huge discount now).

The Kompressor is a sweet car, but has anyone listened to one?
A buddy once told me he saw one that sounded like a lawn mower.
I dismissed him as retarded, but sure enough, a few weeks later, I saw two of them and, they both sounded exactly like a lawn mower.

My dad works for MB, and actually talked me out of buying a Kompressor!
Stick with the s2000, it will run forever, plus, your neighbors won't mistake your car for a Toro.

Ok, now that's a little overboard. I certainly wouldn't take a civic over the 230. I might take the S2000 over it though... only because I have the roadster itch and want to scratch.

But I agree, the 230 Kompressor sounds way too buzzy, and I guess it can pass for a lawnmower. But it is a well made car, and certainly has better build quality than a bimmer 325.

Keep in mind that MB has made huge improvements on the new 2005 C's.... subtle body changes, interior updates, nano-technology paint, new steering wheel, much improved 6-speed manual tranny, and overall build quality has become even better in response to recent criticism that MB's quality was going south. Tell your friend to get an '05 if he goes that route. Even the new '05 C320 Sport Sedan has a slick-shifting 6-speed available and has had very favorable reviews in europe. If you've ever driven one, the older manual C's had one of the worst manual gearboxes you can find in a car.

I don't know about how it sounds, but I was shopping at Costco's and they had a C230 sedan from Mercedes sitting outside on view. I peaked through the window, and wow, MB really reworked the interior for 05. It looked like a little S-Class in there, with chrome rimmed buttons and real burled wood. If practicality and a luxurious interior is his thang, I'd suggest the MB.

yeah I change my vote.

Get the Mercedes but make sure it is an '05 with all the new improvements. It is a sweet car and the updated interior brings freshness back to the model.

The S2K even with its '04 updates looks dated. Still a looker, but definitely showing age. At the risk of sounding vain, I'd rather cruise in a freshened benz than an exhausted Honda design, especially if it's a daily driver.

Is MB able to make that huge improvement for 05??? My brother are so damn happy that his lease on that :shit: 02 c230 compressor is going to finish next month. And he even thinking to pay the penatly to get out of it! It was the worst car I have ever driven and it tie with ford tempo!

I mean, it is pretty odd that he's shopping between the c230 and the s2k because both cars contradicts his needs for a certain car (besides speed).

Erhms, I don't know, he should buy the c230.

Why? Some more details?

I'd also suggest the 3-Series over the C-Class, mainly because of DC's reliability concerns, and the S2000 is waaaaay too small for my Size 13s but....

If your friend has another (more practical) car, then he should get the S2k. If not (i.e. this will be his only car) he should get the Merc. I have a hard time envisioning the S2000 as an only car.

I also agree with Bob, I'd rather have a 3-series......but I doubt you could get a decent one (non-stripped) for the same price as an S2000.

c230 sound like crap. also, the new 05 model will cost you an arm and a leg and still not come close (ok a little) to the performance.

and another thing... you don't buy these kinds of cars for their practicality.

S2000 is a same price as a loaded 325Ci(no Nav, mo Mtech). And same equipped 325i can be 3k cheaper.

I totally agree! neway I am an anti-MB guy Wasn't RSX-TypeS is way better than c230 in every aspect?

The base price on a 325Ci is $30,500 (not $3k cheaper than an S2000). I price a "loaded" (no nav, no sports package) 325Ci at about $37k. Maybe your definition of loaded is different from mine.

Maybe Canadian model is cheaper? S2K is 48k Cdn & 325Ci base is 41k & with sport pkg & preminum pkg is ~48k Cdn. And a loaded 325i is 46k but 325i have ~5k discount.

My vote will have to be for the S2000 (too bad the 350Z or STi isn't in this disscusion) because I think you could go A LOT further with the S2000 than the C230. And no offence but I think that C class are labelled as "Poor Men's Benz" to me.
Except for the AMG C's of course!!!
