Little help please.

I did something dumb, and forgot to do a before picture. If someone could take a pic of their stock m/t lever with O.E.M shift knob in the neutral position, I would like to see how high it sits off the console. Also, first gear to the center console. And no offense to my Canadian friends, (or the rest of the Metric world, lol) but I need it in inches, as I am VERY metric challenged.

Any way, here is my "after" shot. Just waiting on your "before" shot.

Console to top of knob.

First gear

Second gear

I have been wanting to do this since I saw jackacc's post on the Skunk2 shift knob. I did it the same way, so a big shout out and thank you to him. Here is a link to that thread...

https://acurazine.com/forums/showthread.php?t=29835

Only thing I did different was to use my Dremel to cut a little bit of the material on the top of the boot, the black plastic part, so the boot would slip down over the crimps on the shift lever. I also have no need for the black lock nut, and everything is nice and tight, and with the Comtech SS kit, this thing is AWESOME!! Feels just like an S2000 I sat in at the dealership.

If you want to do this , do NOT get the $20 tap and die set at Autozone. Destroyed the die AND the handle. Had to go to a machine shop supplier and get the die and handle. $3.60 for the die and $16.00 for the handle. Use tapping oil and go slow!! I used a product called Tap Magic. Good stuff and smells like cinnamon, go figure.

Anyway, if someone could post up, it would be great,
Thanks again,
Ken

Thanks dmassott!! You even used the same Lufkin tape measure I did, lol. I knew it was shorter, but now I can see the difference!!

Down the shore? Man, I wish I was on a beach somewhere. Going to be in St. Kitts, St. Lucia, and St. Marteen in February.

Thanks again man, and don't worry about posting the pics, these work just fine!!

Haha, I kind of expected that sooner or later, lol. Now I'm afraid to say how good the shifting feels compared to stock.

What's wrong with your shifter being a little shorter??

I personally would have it shorter than longer.

An extreme case is with the lambos.

They have about a nine foot pole for a shifter.

Haha, tell her it's more nimble now. Anyways, it was kind of a bitch to do. First off the heat index in N. Tx today was 110 and I was outside doing this . Then, I had to find a good tap and die set (since the one at autozone sucks) I went with one from sears and got an extra set of dies for the 12 x 1.5. The problem with the set of dies I got, there was no 11 x 1.5! So I had to go from the 12 to the 10 (which sucked! especially since it was hotter than hell outside and I kept having to turn 1/8 of a turn then go back). All in all the whole process took a little over an hour b/c of the many water breaks. Maybe I'll post pics later on when I have time.

Cheap if you already have a tap and die set or if you can find a cheap set. I payed almost $60 for my tap and die set, extra dies, and tapping oil. I guess it's relatively cheap compared to anything else we could do to this car though...with the exception of JTso's TB mod.

Man, we can't buy rain here. Nothing but dust and crunchy grass. I haven't had to mow the yard in 3 weeks.

I'm thinking about getting this in a month or two. Looks good I think.
