Light auto shut-off... beep

hi All,

i've had my '06 TSX for 3 months now, and there is one minor thing that's been bugging me, but that I haven't read about. If there is a thread on the topic already, please let me know... i tried the search, but I'm still a newbie...

The MID allows the user to set the time to automatically shut off the exterior lights, as well as the interior lights. I have set mine to shut off the exterior lights immediately as the car is locked; works great!

My issue is that the "lights on" warning still comes on as I leave the car. As soon as I take my key out and open the door, the lovely "ding dong" comes on. As I close the door and lock it, lights turn off.

As I come back into the car, the same "ding dong" comes on until i put my key in the ignition. Is there a way to make it stop?

many thanks,
Chris

I think this has to do with you leaving your lights in the ON or Parking Lights position all the time. I have fiddled around with this on my new TSX and have come to this conclusion. Try seeing if you have one of the two above set on ON. If so, just turn then to the off position and you shouldnt get any more Bing Bong. Hopefully, its that simple.

I don't think so. The sound is just a reminder that the lights are on. It has no way of interfacing with the MID to see if the auto-off setting is on.

I think the only way to take away the sound would be to find the relay that makes the sound and modify it. (I don't know if the sound comes from the speakers or not, since I never leave my lights on).

By the way, the 60 second timer for the 06 tsx doesn't exist...it sets it for 15 seconds. I read it in the acura service bulletin thingie in one of the stickies here.

Thanks.

that's what I thought, but it makes no sense that you can auto shut-off in 0, 15 or 30 seconds, but that the damned beeper comes on.

oh well... it's an annoyance, but nothing so terrible!
