Left-over 2004 TSX's

Hey,

About to buy a 2004 TSX. I was all set on two used ones, both silver, both 6-speed manuals, and around 10,000 miles. They are listed at $23,880 at the dealership, and was hoping to get them to $23,000 even.

However, I visited an Acura dealership, and ended up talking/flirting with one of the sales managers (she is really cute) and she said that they are really motivated to move out the few remaining 2004's they have on the lot. They are listing a black/black TSX with an automatic for $25,945. I haven;t called her back, but if I could get it to $24,500, an additional $1,445 off since its pretty much a year old before I even buy it, do you think that is a valid offer?

I was even thinking of getting a new one, but if I can, then I would love to do it by this weekend. Thanks for any insight or help!

I am in the same place as you but I am not looking at used cars right now. $23,000 flat for a used TSX. If you are talking about a used, non-Navi TSX before tax lic doc for $23,000 I don't think thats all that great. From what I've gathered by sticking my toes in the water a brand-spankin new 04 TSX can be had for fairly close to invoice+dest ($24,722, that's including dest).

Who cares about the TSX...let's here some more about the babe!

Speaking of which, the dealer that I test-drove the TSX at at a pretty good looking, leggy, blond babe selling cars. I made the comment to my salesperson that she must do pretty well and he concured that many guys do flock to her and her "closing" rate is quite high.

Just wait until the 05s actually arrive, then they will be desperate to get rid of them.

Dude, I got mine new for $25,600...AT, non-Navi. Curious, are the used one's demo or loaner cars? A car is brand new even if it has been sitting in a showroom. Doesn't start depreciating until there are miles on it.

You should take the asking price and then see if they will add the cutie in as free accessory.

Dude, if you can get $25,500 through those internet sales guys you can totally get the car for like $25,000 or so by stepping into the dealership. From what I've seen the internet sales guys are at the bottom of the food chain in car dealerships. The veteran sales guys are the ones that can make things happen for you if they really wanted to.

Yeah, she said the car is $25,700 without any dealing yet, which she said in an e-mail that they are "very eager" to move out the old left-over 2004's.

I was hoping to get it down to practically invoice, which would be around $24,800. If they did that, they would have a sold car. My friend works at a Lexus dealership, and he said they still make almost $1,800 even if they sell a car at invoice. That't why i don't care about their whining about not making any money, becasue they still are!

Anyways, I jsut took a test drive in the Volvo S40 T5 AWD with bi-xenons yesterday, and I think I might be sold on that instead. With one day of haggling, the sticker on it was $29,095 including dest., and they are having $2,000 off instantly, and she took another $2,000 off. She was swilling to give it to me for $25,095! I told her that I will be back today after I thought it over last night.

It is so much more car for the same money. It has all-wheel drive, more power, 60 lb ft of torque more, and both weigh in at 3,200 lbs. Plus, I love the look of the bi-xenons instead of the dumb halogen hi-beams, which I don't understand on the TSX.

Both are beautiful cars, and I guess I will have to make my decision by tonight. I would be getting a manual in either car if I did.

If the car is still on the lot middle of next week that would be the best time to deal - end of the month. I kind of doubt any dealer is desperate enough on a TSX to sell below invoice - they just don't sit around that much. An RL OTOH - that's a different ball game.

Thats a great deal on the S40. Makes me wonder though why their already knocking 4k off the price of a car that just came out. I guess they're not selling.

The "so much more car" part I don't know about.

I still don't get this. Who's looking at your high beams? The answer should be "nobody".

Haha, true about the high beams part. I just like the idea that it gives you much better visibility than the TSX at night.

Plus, you can't beat the AWD handling over the TSX. The TSX handles well, but not as good as the S40 I drove. I am still seriously considering the TSX, and will actually probably buy it, but the two are very close.

I like the dash better in the TSX, but the slim consol on the Volvo is very well done, and looks a lot better than the TSX.

Decisions, decisions, I am very lucky to be even considering these two vehicles.

Good points. I think the TSX's high beams are fine. Sure they're not HID, but they light up the area above the dreaded cutoff.

I haven't driven an S40 yet, but it seems like a pretty sweet car. Whichever you get, let us know. And post pics!

Its great to have selection. That price on the S40 seems pretty low though. Are you certain its not the FWD version you were quoted on?

Yep, the S40 T5 AWD I was looking at had an MSRP of $29,095 and bi-xenon. They were willing to take $4,000 off of that. Well, I went for a test drive in the S40 again, and I don't think I like it as much as the Acura. In terms of power, it beats the TSX no problem. However, teh interior and instrument panel leave a lot to be desired. The one cool thing though is the floating panel where all the climate control and radio stuff is. It definitely looks awesome. Plus, I like the fold down rear seats, really with the TSX had that since I ski like 15 times a year at least. (and no, I don't want to get a roof rack and ruin the looks of my car)

I think in the end, I would be more happy with the TSX even though its not as powerful and has some other things I don't like. Something about it just makes me want it more.

Now, onto another question. I have MB Quart 5.25" QSD's, their top component speakers, along with Alpine amps, Eclipse CD8454 Headunit, sound dampening material, and a few other things. I am wondering how hard it would be to install it all. I was thinking of putting the HU in that compartment in front of the shifter, the big one above the lighter. If it's going to cost an arm and a leg to get it installed, then I might just sell all my stuff, get about $1,800 for it all, and just apply it to some cool stuff for the car. One thing I will have to do is get some more bas in there since the car is weak in the audio department.

My past car I had a JL 12W7 with a 1,000 watts RMS going to it, so the Acura system is just a drop in the bucket. Rally wish I never experienced quality audio components in a car, because I will never be satisfied with any factory system. Oh well.

Alright, waiting till it gets a little later int he day, and calling up my Acura dealership, and get them down to $24,800 hopefully, and then after that, TSX here I come!

You do realize the TSX has 60/40 fold down rear seats right? It does not have a passthrough which is maybe what you were thinking? The TL doesn't have fold down seats.
