Leaving Lights On

Is there any drawback of leaving the headlights switched on all the time? The advantage is not having to switch them on when it gets dark (lack of contrast between lights-on and lights-off on the internal display). The auto-off feature will shut them off a few seconds after the doors are shut, but I was wondering if this will shorten the battery life or will have any other disadvantage.

there actually was recently a post about this. try the search feature, i remember there being some useful points (HID lights burn out based on how many cycles they go through....or something like that).
