Latest ranking of the TSX in Consumer Reports

I was scanning the most recent issue of Consumer Reports at Office Max today and under an article they did for current Top 10 Sports Sedan, the TSX is ranked #6 w/ the highest reliability possible.

This is what I remember:

#2 TL at $33,xxx
#5 BMW 328 $39,xxx (The acronym is Big Money Waste)
#6 TSX $29,xxx

Not Bad Huh?

Given the weighting that CR tends to give to the "value" category, I'm actually surprised it wasn't a little higher. I'm sure it'll get a bump next year from the newness factor.

Hi Kevin, no I did not. That new 6MT is still sitting on their lot. I hate it when they play games from the original quote they gave me. I'll wait to see if he'll be able to sell it now at what he want since the new model will be here in less than 2 months. Maybe by then he won't be playing games.

Little correction ... their March 2008 "sports sedan" comparison included the TL, as well as the TSX. It ranked ... #2 with the circle check mark ("Recommended," with adequate rating in government crash or rollover test). Overall score of 90 (midrange "E"), with #1 car Infiniti G35 getting 92.

The TSX scored 6, with the same circle-check mark, score of 77 (upper range of "VG"). Predicted reliability higher than the TL, BTW. Highs: powertrain, fuel economy, handling, driving position, controls, fit and finish, crash tests; Lows: ride, turning circle. (Tested vehicle, 2004.)

I say correction, because CR was grouping the TSX among upscale sedans, not sport sedans (as of last year). In fact, in their aggregate ratings by category, the TL and TSX are #3 and #9 under "Upscale sedans."
  1. Infiniti G RWD
  2. Lexus ES
  3. Acura TL
  4. Infiniti G AWD
  5. Nissan Maxima
  6. Cadillac CTS V6
  7. Lexus IS250
  8. BMW 3 series Sedan
  9. Acura TSX
  10. Mercedes C-Class
  11. Lincoln MKZ
  12. Audi A4
  13. Saab 9-5
  14. Saab 9-3 Aero
  15. Saab 9-3 2.0T
  16. Volvo S60

Yes, I'm a subscriber (online). Best $26 or so I spend every year.
