I got mine when I was 17, I'm almost done with college, I plan on going to pharmacy school, if that doesnt fall through I might start my own business. I'm currently a senior in college. The tsx is an amazing car, I couldn't stay away from it.

Please inform me where I went wrong...at 18 I went to work for the phone company and did outside repair, climbing poles in the snow.

It took me 2 hard years to pay off my then new 1967 Cougar....

We just got to know....exactly how many lawns have you cut? when do you plan on moving out of your parents basement?

First of all the styling, the firm suspension, and the handling makes the car more appealing to young people than to older people. I have seen very few people with gray hair driving a TSX.

Secondly, you simply do not find many older people on the Internet unless it is a subject that is related to aging -- or a social site for older people. Anyone much older than 40 did not grow up with computers, was not introduced to computers in school -- and often has little use for computers. Then know about virus, Trojan horses, and SSN's being stolen, etc. And, that is about all that most of them care to know about computers. So, most of the older TSX owners simply will not be found participating in any forum.

My wife and I are both suffering from OldTimers and we each have our own 08 TSX.

In 1.5 years we will both be 60...assuming we don't assume room temp b4 then.

We had to throw our kids out when they were 24 or so, and one was in the basement. Both of them were really p*ssed, but they got over it and now they thank us for making them get their own life.

You're seeing the we want it all and we want it now generation on this board. I grew up in the shadow of the "great" depression and learned to watch my pennies. Except for a house, I never borrowed a cent to buy a car - used or new. Instead, I fixed junkers myself because that was the economical thing to do.

Well I just bought my 08 TSX a few months ago, so it's no surprise someone as old as me can afford it. Personally I consider myself smart with my money, I was going to get an 07 WRX but I couldn't find any new white/manual ones plus at the end of the day (crappy gas mileage, depreciation for the WRX) both cars would cost about the same.

well i wandered into the TSX forum..lol...but thought i'd post. i am now 20 and own a 2005 TL 5AT. I been working my ass off wth my pops or uncle working construction and doing woodwork...so i saved some. At 18..i was working for Toyota as a spot welder making 23 an hour and saved tons of money. Moved on from that job and am now a marketing coordinator. I have bought all of my cars..my first 2 paid in cash...1993 accord sedan an 1995 maxima. Now my TL which i have had for a year now.

guess just gotta be smart about money, and get lucky with good paying jobs..lol thats how i pay for mine..heheeh and school too!

and im just as curious as u guys to see what that guy who paid his tSX off cash does for a living..if i were to start "my own" business i could easily make $5k a week like some people i know..but...im legit and like to keep my money that way...work for it hard..and its well earned

That is an excellent euphemism.

I almost convinced my father, 62 years old at the end of this year, to get a 1st get 6MT TSX. He didn't for two reasons: 1) my mom went through 6 clutches in the last manual car they owned and 2) he's 6'5"... so the back seat behind him would be useless.

One of the reasons he liked it is because it's fun to throw around corners.

He bought a TL instead. He likes it... almost as much... it's sloppier than the TSX and he certainly doesn't like the lower gas mileage the TL gets these days!

Edit: For the record, the TSX is my first new car... I bought it when I was 35... and will keep it until it dies. I'm not part of the "want it all, want it now" crowd... I'm part of the delayed gratification crowd. Back to my father: his favorite quote to me when I wanted something over the top was "People in hell want ice water".

I'm still looking for my TSX. I've had a job since i was 13. I have a 97 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited with the 5.2L and an 04 Honda 400ex ATV. I realized its only about $50 more per month for me to buy an 05/06 TSX, if i sell the quad and Jeep. Plus the TSX wont need $110 in gas every 400kms! (and the TSX is a WAY nicer car =] )

Insurance is the same price for the TSX as it is with my Jeep and ATV combined. Only due to the fact that I'm a young driver in BC.

I'm glad my parents didn't raise me like that. Don't get me wrong...there are a lot of things that I want, and it would be really nice to have them now, but they taught me (and I also taught myself after a little mishap) the importance of being frugile and paying myself first. I'm not going to say that I'm just like his generation, and definitely not like the one before his (around the great depression), but I've seen how a lot of the people I went to high school and the way they grew up expecting parents to give them everything. It's really kind of sickening.

My 2nd acura i have owned, I 1st had a Mazda Protege, then traded it in for my RSX ,then traded that in for my TSX , also have a Mazda 6 GT. I work full time as a Air Traffic Controller for the past 3 yrs. Make good money you can get a good car, or some of you might live with your parents still.

almost a year ago. It belongs to my cousin's fiance and it was just sitting in her backyard for the 2 year he's had it. He wanted to get rid of it to park a 3 series coupe in her backyard, so I offered my cousin to him in exchange for a a few bucks off the TSX. Just kidding about the cousin thing.

Dealership. It was one of those dealer courtesy cars that employees use to go pick up people (such in my situation) from the airport or at their house or whatever. I just remember seeing the price and thinking . The dealership has since not had any at such low prices...maybe because they realized they could get more. I had to go about 800 miles to get it home, but it was definitely worth it. I enjoyed the ride home anyways.

I was somewhat upset though. They had another car (same situation, courtesy car) that was black with parchment interior and a 6spd. That was my perfect combo, but about 2 days before we went to go get it, they had a hail storm in Kansas and it had some damage done to it. So I 'settled' for a CPG. lol I'm still very happy with it though.

Being young in some aspects really sucks…being a student I neither possess nor can afford some of the modifications I want to do two my vehicle. It takes me a long time to scrape together the funds to ‘mod’ my car. If I had a steady flow of income it would be great, and I think I would be satisfied. Oh well once I land that steady full time job life should be great.

Our company operates a similar style of forum and we were faced with that question. People will make ugly pages, so do you give them freedom to make your site ugly or take away freedom to make the site look clean? Facebook has made their decision. We think it's more important to preserve personal expression than to have a good looking site. I like hodgepodge neighborhoods and towns much better than centrally planned equivelents and I think most people do to.

I think he's refering to the idea that working overtime at the expense of your free time is a bad way to live.

I agree with that concept in general. A lot of software companies talk their young childless employees work eighteen hours a day to rush out a product earlier than the competition. Sometimes companies find it easier to work their employees overtime than hire more employees. A person has to pro-actively avoid getting sucked into that kind of deal.
