Hey everyone, I just got my 2004 TSX last week and I am fairly new to cars and everything. When I got the car, it has roughly 80k on the odometer, is there anything I should be aware of(in terms of engine, filter, transmission, etc.). Thanks for the help!

congrats on the purchase. the TSX is definitely a blast to drive
I'd do an oil change, tranny oil change. air/cabin filter change. check the tires, rotate if necessary. and possibly do an alignment.

Oliver!!!
The 04 seems to be fraught with a/c issues. There's a huge thread about it in the Problems and Fixes section. There's also a well known panel lighting issue that's in there too. There's a few others, but those seem to be the major ones. At 80k I'd probably do an oil change, tranny fluid change, coolant flush, air filter and cabin air filter. Should be good on plugs for another 30k or so, and the TSX has a timing chain so you should be alright there for a while too.
Of course that's all dependant on not having any maintenance records. Some or all of that may have been done recently.

I would make sure it has had the recalls done (trunk harness and headlight clips). And yes, watch out for the A/C and HVAC lights issues (center console). I suggest you search for these threads in problems and fixes so you're aware of what can happen and will know the fix right away.

Hey i just got my SSM 04 non nav auto TSX last week too. My cousin works at the dealership so im well taken care of with regards to the car. He checked the recalls on mine. He looked for 2 metal clips on each of the headlights (Theres one on top and one by the corner). The recall on the trunk harness was done. It's a wire harness in the trunk behind the paneling on the driver side.
Changed the cabin filter too.. Thats behind the glove compartment. Just pop off the 2 tabs in the glovebox on the left and right and push the damper towards the front of the car and it should drop down. The cabin filter straight behind that. Theres two more tabs on the left and right, push them towards the center and pull out the cabin filter. There's an arrow pointing the direction of the air flow on both the filter itself and the bracket holding the filter. Make sure its going in the same direction.
I also had the a clog in my sunroof drain. I'd also check for that. If the rear sunroof drains are clogged, then water gets into the spare compartment. The drains are found behind the left and right paneling in the trunk. It's a clear tube that runs vertically.
Hope this helps..
Congrats on the car!

Ah 04... The year that started it all.
One thing I like about the 04 is the metallic colored steering wheel buttons. It blends better with the interior and they should have kept it and made them metallic and light up as well for the 05-08.
Love to see some pics of your new ride as other have mentioned when you get the chance.
BTW, hows the OEM tires looking too?
Any plans for mods?

Wow, Thanks guys for the replies!
I got a 2004 non navi/6MT.
The few mod. did by the previous owner are: A-spec suspension, new headlight casing (he wanted black), unwired angel's eye, tinted window.
The car overall drives fine, it it just my part where I have to figure out the optimal shifting timing (any advices?)
Here are the pictures, took it on the wrong day, so I will definitely post up some more when weather here in Ann Arbor gets better!

congrats on the new car...i just recently got mine too. great car!
keep an eye on the recalls issued by acura. primarily you need to keep notice of the audio system/hvac lighting and controls, trunk harness, and clips for front headlights (they fog up). Also another thing i'v had a problem with is the audio system disconnecting from main power itself while driving and this morning it had disconnected from power entirely so i had to input the activation code. Dont know why it happened but i will be getting that checked out.
