Just curious -- what is that thing next to the homelink buttons?

Anyone know what that thing next to the homelink buttons (garage door opener, etc) is -- the part with multiple small holes. It looks like a microphone or sensor of some sort. It seems to be in Honda's too (08 Accord, 08 Odyssey, etc)

BTW I have an 04 TSX without NAV

It's the space for the microphone for the nav or the bluetooth. In the 04, it was there, but was really only functional if you had the nav. On 06+ models, it is for the bluetooth/nav mic.

If you had a Nav system, that's where your mic would be

it's not for bluetooth.

the thing up there on the ceiling is the microphone for the voice command controls.

There's another microphone down by where the ignition is.
Between the stereo and the ignition.

That one might be for bluetooth.
But the one overhead is for audio, climate and navigation control.

That's what my manual says anyway.

Grille down by the ignition switch is the interior temperature sensor.

okey dokey then.

then I'm sure the mic up top is a double duty mic on the newer models.
no need for two mics after all of course.

Correct, the mic on on the ceiling next to the homelink is for the NAV/Voice Commands, and for the '06 and up models, also serves as the bluetooth mic. The thing on the bottom near the steering wheel is a temp sensor for the auto climate control.

Thanks for the input guys.
I was just curious to see if it had any purpose in my car--since I don't have NAV/Bluetooth/voice command, I guess it really has no purpose.

OMG, there is so much incorrect information being thrown all over the place in this thread!

-small vented rectangle by the homelink is where the mic is for navi models
-circular vent by the ignition is NOT a mic, but temperature sensor
-04,05 does not have Bluetooth available.

Come now, you know better than that.

Yep, that grill thingie is the mic thingie for NAVI and/or HandsFreeLink. In a friend's Mazda, we spent days wondering what the overhead blue light was (it was on day and night, irregardless of exterior lighting), nothing in the manual about it. "Thank you, Acura" for explaining it in OUR manual.

Before someone asks what that sensor thingie on the front dash is, it's a daylight sensor for the climate control. I think...

The mods have graciously posted an FAQ with links to all the online manuals ... no excuse not to know something, I even have the PDF(s) on my RHEL work machine. Which is where I'm headed right now....
